Back to Blogging – Pinterest

back to blogging

Day 4 of our social media week here on BritMums is dedicated to the beautiful world of Pinterest, if you have still to enter this haven of beautiful images step carefully as you will soon be addicted. Come follow our BritMums Pinterest boards and you’ll soon see the endless possibilities Pinterest offers you.

Pinterest is an online scrapbook where as you meander through the world of internet and discover blog posts, images, inspiring articles or ideas you can ‘Pin’ them on one of your boards so each time you can refer back to them when in need.

Recipes are a great board to start off with, craft ideas to do with the kids where Red Ted Art has enough ideas to keep you going till the end of the century and if you are planning on some DIY in the home Pinterest is the perfect place to get your mood board together.

I’ve started one up for my wedding in March, it’s a dreamy place I escape to and imagine but where I have also gained so many great ideas

The beauty of Pinterest, apart from creating an online scrapbook to refer to, is the posts can be repinned and liked by other viewers who come across them on their timelines so say for example you’ve added your own Sausage and mash recipe leading back to your blog, if this gets repinned by another 3 people who get a repin another 3 times each you can understand how quickly that one successful post can suddenly become accessible to many readers outside your normal reach.

How to use Pinterest

Back in July Melitsa Avila put together this fabulous video explaining how to use Pinterest for BritMums readers and I’d thoroughly recommend a viewing of it as you’ll pick up plenty of tips and if you weren’t able to make BritMums Live this year where Melitsa was moderator for our Pinterest Google hangout you can review their conversation on our broadcast.

For more information Kelly Innes from Domestic Goddesque wrote a Pinterest blogger case study and Alice Langley explains how much she’s fallen in love with Pinterest

How we use Pinterest

BritMums has a board dedicated to tips we’ve picked up around the blogosphere to make it easier for you, repin them on your own board so you have quick access to them 😉

Pinterest cake and wine

One last post to draw to your attention because it will save you time and make sure you start pinning correctly from the start 12 things to avoid when pinning

And now to link up your Pinterest boards and start following people if we all follow each other we’ll all have a cosy number of followers and a busy timeline to start pinning great ideas from. Today please link the URL of your Pinterest profile page it should look like this http://pinterest.com/britmums/ and remember if you see a good post PIN it!
