WIN a Lakeland 3.5L Slow Cooker and a supply of P.D.O. Persimon® from Spain!

Spanish Persimon with PDO status logoWe’ve partnered up with sponsor P.D.O. Persimon® from Spain to give away a Lakeland 3.5L Slow Cooker. You’ll also receive some Persimon® to make something yummy. So what’s the connection between Spanish Persimon® and a slow cooker?

Persimon® are like slow cooker recipes — totally faff-free. Persimon® don’t contain any pips or stones and are beautifully sweet. They make a great addition to tagines and curries particularly (including ones you cook in a slow cooker). Plus with their bright colour and sweet flavour, they appeal to kids.

How to enter the #WeLoveSpanishPersimon Giveaway

    • with mozzarella in a salad
    • Or some other way!

What are P.D.O. Persimon® from Spain?

Persimon® have a sweet, delicate flavour similar to a peach or a mango and are only available for a short period of time; from mid-October until January. They are grown in the Ribera del Xúquer Valley near Valencia in Spain. They are the only persimmon bearing the Persimon® trademark. It’s certified, meaning it is grown to guaranteed levels of quality.

And Persimon® is the brand name given to all fruit that has a P.D.O status; just like a Manchego or Stilton cheese or a Rioja wine. Spanish Persimon® are an excellent source of powerful antioxidants like carotenoids and flavonoids. They are a high-fibre fruit that can help lower cholesterol, reduce blood sugar levels and keep your digestive system healthy.
