Top tips for organising and storing pictures on your phone #ad

While as families we might have a great DSLR, a good old-fashioned point-and-click and even an instant camera, these days we capture a vast majority of our pictures on our smartphones. We are capturing more memories than ever but it’s taking up huge amount of space on our phone. How to handle it?
We decided to find out by enlisting some parents and top content creators into testing a digital life hack as part of a campaign with SanDisk. (This post is part of a paid campaign with SanDisk).
The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is a little pocket-sized gadget that plugs into the phone and provides added storage, backs up your pictures and video and helps make family getaways easier than ever. (The iXpand is for IOS phones; there’s also the Dual Drive USB Type-C for Android devices.)
Here’s what our group of tech-savvy, snaphappy parents thought about the device.

Small enough to pack with your travel gadgets

Carrie from Flying with a Baby is a former flight attendant and so knows a little something about the importance of tech and digital hacks when it comes to travelling with children. She included the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive in her list of travel tech gadgets. We loved this list of must-haves and her insider knowledge, including which airline doesn’t allow external power packs!

Ensures you don’t run out of memory for pics on the go

Sam from North East Family Fun loves to travel and capture memories. But she struggles — she and her family have too much fun sometimes. “Despite my phone offering unlimited cloud storage for photos I’ve taken, I still find myself running out of actual phone storage on a regular basis,” she says. Sometimes she misses the great shot because she’s either trying to be careful about how many she takes or she’s managing her storage.

Beyond backing up

In her post Nichola from Globalmouse Travels shows just how small the device is compared with the other things she packs. But there’s also the way the family can use it throughout their trip. The kids were able to easily scroll back through the slew of photos they’d taken on a busy day out more easily and instantaneously than usual — she first backed up the pictures and videos by plugging it into the phone then plugging it into her computer. It also worked as simple additional storage to help entertain the children during the train trip, she says. “By having enough storage for videos, my kids are able to enjoy watching films on my phone, without me having to fill my phone’s memory up.”

You don’t have to be connected to wifi

We love digital life hacks but sometimes trying to connect, update, download, etc while away from home can be more stressful, not less. In this post for BritMums, Susanna shows how installing the app for the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is an easy 1-2-3 and that it released her family from being in thrall to wifi when it came to backing up, finding more space on her phone and viewing pictures and videos. As a result her snaphappy ways just kept going!

  1. My SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive is honestly part of everyday life for me – I LOVE it! I was only just using it last night to back up some holiday photos and transfer them from my phone to my husband’s computer.

Thank you for including me. I was so glad to have it on a recent press trip also as I ran of video storage at a vital moment. Within a minute I had it plugged in and normal service resumed!
