The summer holidays were upon us but us parent bloggers never miss the opportunity for a good review. Whether we were stuck indoors thanks to the August thunderstorms or we were out exploring, you have been linking up galore with your summer reviews.
In August we bought Baby D his first pair of shoes, so over on Kiddy Reviews I have been reviewing his Clarks Cruiser Shoes. I have to admit, I was a bit sceptical of buying into the whole “Cruiser Shoes” thing, but I am a convert.
There were over 50 links in the last round up and as always I loved reading the vast array of things that us mums and dads are reviewing. You can check out all of the reviews in the August Review Round Up, but meanwhile here are a few of my top picks from last month.
For those of you with little babies that have started to sit up and you need somewhere secure to put them, the obvious things to look to are the Bumbo or the Snug, but The London Mum has been checking out the Baby Seat by Ingenuity, it seems like the best of the two put together so definitely worth considering.
If you are looking for a personalised item of clothing that doesn’t break the bank, check out Futures’ review of the Stuck on You clothing range. Great price, quality and versatility, along with personalising the item to make it extra special for the recipient.
Family Fever have been enjoying Legoland and have given us a great detailed review with some fantastic pictures. And they only “scratched the surface” on their day visit. I always get a little excited when I read a review on Legoland by one of you. It’s a mere 20 minutes from us and I cannot wait to be able to go and enjoy it when Baby D is a little older.
Beauty & Fashion
Looking for a new foundation and fancy spoiling yourself? Check out Sunshine on a Cloudy Day’s review of the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. My best tip on finding a foundation right for you is to ask for a sample from the cosmetics counter and then try it out at home before investing.
For some reason I enjoy reading reviews about men’s “beauty” products more than women’s. Maybe I’m hoping one day I will metro-fy my Mr D (long shot!). Anyway, Ideas4dads’ review of RockFace4Men Grooming Products caught my attention this month. It’s a full range of male grooming products that is great looking and manly smelling.
Cool Bananas Blog had a lovely trip to Kefalonia, Greece and has been reviewing her stay at a James Villas. It definitely looks tempting: large, clean, family-friendly and not a bad price for what you are getting, in my opinion.
I also love a city break and European cities are just a stone throws away. Mama Owl had a quick city tour in Paris and shows us all the extent of things on offer. Whether a romantic getaway or being a tourist with the kids (as she was), there is something for everyone.
I’m not a chocoholic but I do enjoy a good bit of chocolate now and again and it’s always interesting to see it being used in different ways. Honest Mum was lucky enough to check out Hotel Chocolat’s Roast and Conch. The photos have my mouth watering and this is now firmly on my restaurants to visit list (lucky there is one closer to home in London too).
In the Playroom enjoyed a beach themed cake from Cakes by Robin and have been making my mouth water with the gorgeous cake photos. I’m super excited because I have one of Robin’s cakes booked for Baby D’s first birthday so hopefully I will be sharing my review with you in November.
If you have a fussy little eater or are stumped for recipes that your children will enjoy then Twinderelmo suggests using the latest Annabel Karmel Weaning Book. Even if your little ones are past the weaning phase, there are plenty of recipes that are still suitable for older children to enjoy.
One of the downsides of renting is that you can never quite make your place your own. But Time to be an Adult may have the answer with Lets Go Hme Wall Wrap – a wipeable and removable wallpaper, so you can make your rented place your own without foregoing the security deposit.
We all know creating a super healthy, low fat meal that everyone loves can be difficult to do everyday so for those of you trying to shed a few lbs, check out Carson’s Mummy’s review of Diet Chef. She tells you about what there is on offer food wise and her break down of the cost and comparing it to what you may spend on food anyway makes this seem like a more viable option for some.
What products and services have you been reviewing this month? Add them to the linky below and if you would like a RT for your post, then tweet me @kiddyreviews using #britmumsreviews. Until next month…
