As the breeze starts to blow ever so slightly cooler, the evenings grow darker that bit earlier and jumpers start to reappear in our wardrobes, it can only mean one thing.
Autumn has arrived.
And it seems the Under 30s community is embracing the new season with open arms, wellies in one hand and pumpkins in the other!
Chantal, Zach and Jono (Milk & Nappies) kicked off her favourite season with an Autumn Bucket List – everything from picking blackberries to drinking mulled cider and pulling the slow cooker out of the cupboard. But if you’re still looking for inspiration, check out Stacie’s (Parker & Me) Autumn Bucket List as well, hunting for conkers and baking Apple Crumble.
Warm, comforting bakes and cooking seem to be a heavy feature on Autumn Bucket Lists – something to do with the colder weather and spending more time indoors I’m sure. But top of my Autumn Bucket List (if I had written one) would be welly walks. They’re one of my absolute favourite ways to spend a Saturday. Sure, I love a walk in the Summer sunshine, but there’s something extra special about the slight chill in the air, the smell of bonfires in the air and warming your cockles with a hot drink indoors at the end. Back at the start of September I eagerly pulled my ruby red wellies out from the back of the cupboard for our first welly walk of the season, building wigwams in the forest, followed by baking rock buns and drinking hot coffee (us, not Little Miss!).
It seems I’m not the only one with a penchant for hot drinks in Autumn as Emma (Me, The Man and The Kids) confesses her love for Pumpkin Lattes (a strong choice, I might add). The fact she gets to enjoy it ‘sans kids, con chocolate swirl’, however, I am very envious of!
Hannah (The Diary of an Ordinary Mum) has been preparing for Autumn in a different way, making sure her mini me is fully kitted out with her top picks for kids this Autumn. Meanwhile, Alice (Alice & Amelia – New Young Mum) was keeping her little one warm and pretty in pink with Polarn O. Pryret.
Of course, with each new season, the crafters are in their element, and something about Autumn really seems to capture their imagination. Ali (Being a Mummy with M.E.) shared a post from last year featuring lots of fun activities to do with the kids; get them to collect a bunch of beautiful, Autumnal coloured leaves on your welly walk, then come home to create a lovely leaf garland. And another oldie but a goodie from Alice (Alice & Amelia – New Young Mum), featuring her Autumn Playdough recipe and platter. Talk about an invitation to play!
But no Autumn post would be complete without the mention of heading back to school and Kirsty (Something Crunchy Mum) wrote a lovely little post about embracing change as both her boys embark on new journeys at Preschool and School all at once. Meanwhile, Louise (Squished Blueberries) talks about their decision to Home Educate and their First Day of Home School. Good luck to everyone who has started on a new journey this season! Hopefully by the time this post is live you’re all finding your groove and running away from Mum or Dad at the school gates rather than hiding behind their skirts (or whatever they choose to wear on the school run!).
How are you enjoying Autumn? What’s on your Bucket List this season?
