I have a soft spot for Spain, from the moment I coveted castanets and a straw donkey on a family trip to Majorca in the 1970s. More holidays to Spain continued and even in my twenties I joined my mum and dad on a trip to Tenerife where I met my future husband – who said holiday romances don’t last?
If you want to know why Spain has been a favourite destination for so many years, I think the following posts will give you some idea. Whether you’re a city tripper or a beach bum, come with me on a tour of sunny Spain and find some holiday inspiration from bloggers who have visited within the last year.
Spanish cities

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Madrid, Barcelona and Seville over recent years and each one had something different to offer in terms of art, history and the most incredible architecture. I’d like to share some blog posts which give you tapas in Madrid, bikes in Seville and a large helping of Gaudi in Barcelona. I’m already planning a return trip and Granada and Ronda are both on my list.

On the Costas
If you’re looking to have some fun on the beach, may I suggest banana boats in Calella on the Costa Barcelona? Or maybe some upmarket shopping in Puerto Banus is more your style? Spain does sun, sand and sea very well and I can’t think of a better place to try camping either – just think of that wonderful weather.

Northern delights

Probably not so familiar to most of us, there is some spectacular scenery in the northern regions of Spain. Find your own space, take a deep breath and enjoy a different type of Spanish holiday. If you want to know what it’s to live there, look no further than Mary’s blog, Asturian Diary.

All age groups will find their own special place in either Majorca, Menorca or Ibiza. I spent my honeymoon on the tiny island of Formentera, just off Ibiza, and still recall the fabulous white beaches. For families, you can’t go wrong if you choose some Mediterranean island magic.

About Trish Burgess
Trish Burgess started her blog ‘Mum’s Gone To…’ with a series of posts called ‘Mum's Gone To Iceland' where she was extremely ill on a whale-watching trip and thought she would die snow-mobiling on a glacier. Thankfully she survived and continued with less scary family trips: ‘Mum’s Gone To…Canada, Cyprus, Barcelona, Berlin etc. Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne she now lives in South Lincolnshire and travels with her husband and occasionally with her son, who is now at university.
