Raising money for the Matilda Mae Skydive at BritMums Live

logoI don’t think there are many people who do not know the story of Matilda Mae Henley, the beloved daughter of Jennie (@Espire) who died in February from SIDS. A lot of you may remember Matilda from last summer’s BritMums Live. I had the great pleasure of meeting and cuddling Matilda, and it’s a memory I’ll always cherish. Matilda was found sleeping by Jennie, and she has since worked tirelessly to raise awareness of SIDS to help save another baby and another family from the heartache she is living every day. As well as raising awareness Jennie is raising much need funds for The Lullaby Trust – formerly FSID – to help their work to prevent SIDS from happening.

A team of Jennie’s blogging friends are doing their bit to raise money later this year by doing a tandem Skydive from 10,000 feet. At present there will be around 15 of us jumping on July 20th at Hinton Skydiving Centre just outside Brackley north of Oxford. Needless to say we’re all a little nervous, but we are all doing it for an amazing cause and in memory of a gorgeous baby girl. We need to raise lots of money for The Lullaby Trust and we’ve got a team Just Giving page set up ready, complete with links to each of our personal pages.

Some members of the skydiving team will be attending BritMums Live this year, as will Jennie, and members of The Lullaby Trust. During the final break on Saturday – between 15.45 and 16.40 – we’ll be wandering around armed with a collection bucket. We’ll be after your loose change and any sponsorship money you want to give us in person. Keep an eye out for us at BritMums Live – trust me, you won’t be able to miss us – and do dig deep and give what you can. And don’t worry, the brands and PR’s who are in attendance aren’t safe either!

If you want to donate via Just Giving you can find our team page here, where you’ll be able to go direct to any individual page and donate:

Some team members have already hit their target whilst others still have some way to go. Please do focus your sponsorship on those that haven’t hit their target yet. Each diver has to hit that target or they won’t be able to dive, and whilst we’re all generally scared, we want to do this for Jennie and for Matilda.

Here’s the team that will be collecting on the day. If you can’t find any of us during the conference do send out a tweet to one of the team and we’ll come and find you!
