We all get excited ahead of Blogger events. Obviously it’s great to learn more about blogging, expand our skills and try new things, but the thing that really gets usu going is the chance to meet bloggers- old and new- in real life.
The issue with this is that we don’t always know what the bloggers we want to meet look like. My online avatar for example, is a silhouette of a 1950’s housewife with a teeny waist and perfect hair. I eat far too much cake mix to have a teeny waist and I last washed my hair three days ago so it’s looking a bit ‘shiny’, and I don;t mean that in a good way.
Which is why I have started the What I’m Wearing to BritMums Live linky over on my blog: if I know what the bloggers I am most keen to meet are wearing, I will stand a much better chance of finding them that if I wander around staring at people’s boobs badges, trying to work out who they are.
I stress that this is not about fashion: don’t for a second think that you must be head-to-toe in the latest styles. Wear what you are comfortable in, wear huggable clothing, wear shoes that will withstand hours of walking around trying to find me (joking). Wear clothes that allow you to be the you that we interact with every day online. If that’s high fashion, great. If it’s jeans and a t-shirt, that’s perfect. If it’s your favourite jammies, it won’t stop me from hugging you either.
So if you are going, if you can plan outfits two weeks ahead of when you want to wear them, if you write a blog post about it, head over to Domestic Goddesque and say hello, add your details and make it just that bit easier for us to put faces to names. If in doubt, I’ll be the one wearing an apron!!
About Kelly Innes
Kelly is the face behind the vintage silhouette at Domestic Goddesque. She eats too much cookie dough to have a waist that small. She is a thirty-something Mother of two absurdly photogenic little girls, is married her beloved DH and endures daily battles-of-will with the dog she refers to as the Wonder Hound. She likes to avoid housework as much as possible, preferring to bake, craft and drink cocktails. Sorry, did I say cocktails? I meant coffee. And nap. She likes to nap too. When not blogging, you can find her haunting Facebook for interesting snippets of gossip, or throwing her wit around the twittersphere. (She may have made that last bit up too: she's not that funny.)
