Reviews Round-up: Something for everyone

reviewsDon’t the Summer holidays seem so long ago? Now the kids are back at school and the parents are back to (blogging) work. But we can’t complain too much as the weather has been very kind and given us Brits a bit of an extended Summer.

Over on Kiddy Reviews I have been talking about enjoying one such sunny weekend by visiting London’s Southbank with my baby. He loves aquariums and London’s Sea Life is pretty spectacular (especially if you have Tesco Clubcard points that you can use to get in), as are the numerous other activities on offer. Check out my full review to see what London Southbank has to offer throughout the year.

Needless to say it was another big round-up thanks to you amazing bloggers, with 50 links for a great array of reviews. I even spotted some reviews on blogs that hadn’t been shared on the round-up (for shame!), but after a nudge, you came over, linked up and hopefully discovered some new blogs to read too. Remember, if you write or see a fantastic review, share it on the BritMums Reviews Round-Up. We are all about sharing the love!

You can check out all of the reviews in the September Review Round Up, but meanwhile here are a few of my top picks from this month.

Parenting

It is a well known fact that massage is a great way to soothe and bond with your precious bundle of joy. Unfortunately it is not always feasible for everyone to attend actual classes, so I love the Tiddly Pom Organic Baby Massage review from The Dadventure. Everything you need for successful baby massage (including a DVD), without the need to leave your home.

For those parents that love the Fisher-Price Jumperoo (all of us!), but cried at the thought of packing it away when baby outgrew it, wondering what on earth we would do now for some peace and quiet, Mrs Shilts may have the answer with the Fisher-Price Bounce & Spin Zebra. But if you are looking for something that is a little more compact and easy to put away, then check out Hollybobb’s review of the Fisher-Price Little People Farm, which allows for more imaginative play.

If you are struggling with a cool way to get your children to brush their teeth, without investing in a pricey electric toothbrush, then take a look at My Family Fever’s review of the Rockability Toothbrush. Blogger Mummy Lauren has also been giving the Rockability Toothbrush a go with her daughter too. It looks like both mums have given it a thumbs up for its funky design for the kids and hygiene factor from the parents.

Beauty & Fashion

Pregnancy is such a beautiful time, unfortunately most fashion retailers haven’t got the message and don’t tailor beautiful maternity wear to suit. However, Ghostwriter Mummy is loving the offerings from The Essential One and Isabella Oliver. There is a great selection of dresses, tops and pyjamas to suit every bump and every mood.

From bump to baby, our little people are definitely walking in their parents’ footsteps when it comes to fashion. One such review this month was from The London Mum, who has been trying out clothing from the Organic Bambino Boutique on her little man. Bright and colourful, these organic clothes are softer and are more breathable fabrics, perfect if your little one has delicate skin.

Travel

OK, so Summer may be over, but I for one am already planning my next holiday. There is something so exciting about booking a holiday away in the sun as you look out to a grey British day. That’s why I am loving Honest Mum’s review of Halkidiki. The woman is also Greek, so if she tells you somewhere in Greece is good, sit up, pay attention and then book your ticket!

If you’re looking for a more local, family friendly holiday, then take a look at Everything Mummy’s review of Butlins Bogner Regis. There seems to be plenty of food and entertainment options to keep your little ones happy.

Technology

If you haven’t heard of Apple TV, then please come out from under the rock. Ickle Pickle have been having a great time with it, namely Airplay. It is a great piece of technology for not that much investment (by Apple standards) and the perfect present for any techy in your life (Christmas is fast approaching).

Along the lines of Apple, I had to share my MacBook Pro Unboxing vlog, which seems to have got some vloggers drooling. It is an amazing bit of kit and has made editing my photos and videos super quick. If you are looking for your next blogging tool, then I have to recommend it.

If you’re looking for bigger bits of technology, then check out Time to be an Adult’s review of the Hotpoint Washing machine and Hotpoint tumble dryer. Both are great additions to the home without breaking the bank. Or Reclusive Fox has been testing out her new LG True Steam washing machine, which looks like the daddy of all washing machines, in size and performance. These would definitely make the boring task of laundry a little more bearable.

The OCD cleaner in me loved this next review by Oh So Amelia about the Vax Life Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. So light and powerful that Kerry is still happily vacuuming away, even though she is pregnant. Nesting won’t be a problem for this lady.

Food

Hands up, who has a sweet tooth? My Family Ties certainly does and has been sharing her review (not the candy, unfortunately) of Candy Crate UK, a subscription service that delivers all of your favourite American chocolate and candy bars to your British door step. I’m going to have to keep this one a secret from the Yankee I married…

If you are vegetarian or just fancy learning more about wine pairings with vegetarian food, instead of the usual fish/chicken/meat options, then Knees Up Mother Brown may be able to help with her review of the new Waitrose Vegetarian Foodie Case. Six bottles of wine to pair with six recipes for vegetarian meals. Perfect for a night in or as a present to a foodie you know.

Lifestyle

If you have decided that you spent the Summer loading up on one too many ice-creams and it is time to do something about it, then Bod for Tea is sharing their experience with the Noom App, a fun, easy and minimal cost way to shed a few lbs (her and her husband lost 60lbs between them!)

Fancy a mini home makeover, but don’t have the time or Peter Andre around to help? The Reading Residence is letting us snoop inside her “new” living room, thanks to Superfresco Easy Wallpaper. It really does seem easy to work with and six hours later, you have a brand new room to enjoy.

What products and services have you been reviewing this month? Or have you spotted a great review on another blog? Add them to the linky below and if you would like a RT for your post, then tweet me @kiddyreviews using #britmumsreviews. Until next month…

About Jai Dhillon

Jai set up her site, Kiddy Reviews, after her own experiences as a new mum and finding a lack of one-stop review sites for parents. She splits her time between UK and NYC and gets a buzz from finding the best deals on the things she loves (that’s the accountant in her).
A once house proud, domestic goddess, she is giving in to her home being taken over by anything baby related. Goodbye dinner parties, hello playtimes and rolling around on the floor… although she secretly prefers the latter.
When she’s not reviewing or holiday hunting, you can find her curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea, catching up on one too many American TV shows.
