Positively Inspirational Round-Up: Summer breeze

inspiration round upSummer is finally well and truly here, even though I am writing this sitting in front of a roaring fire as chilly drizzle trickles down my window pane. Still, it smells of summer and I love it. I’ve read some gorgeous posts this past month.

Posts ozzing wonderful words full of inspiration and positivity, starting with Kate over at ‘A Playful Day’ who shares her love of the sea with us. Kate writes “Tell her your troubles, she’s a good listener; These words, whispered in my daughter’s ear one evening sealed her love for our beautiful coastline.” as she describes watching her three year old staring at the waves. Kate goes on to tell us how “We find ourselves running regularly to the coast, eager for its vastness, its simplicity and its constantly changing shape. In Winter we greet it with flasks of warm milk and blankets but Summer is where the exploration starts in earnest. No longer weighed down by woollens, waterproofs and bracing against the ferocious wind that cuts through even the thickest layer, we scramble, dig, paddle and forage. A beach is my favourite playground and I’m so grateful that it has become my daughter’s too.” I totally relate to her words as I often feel an overwhelming urge to run to the sea and release any negative energy. It always works for me.

Molly from ‘Mothers Always Right’ shares with us her experience of literally running to the sea, to live in Devon. Molly relocated to Devon from Berkshire a few years back for a slower, more simplistic lifestyle. Molly writes “…if you’re currently wondering whether to make the leap and relocate – or indeed make any big change in your life – then don’t be scared. It CAN be done and it CAN be a positive thing. As much as I sometimes miss living a stone’s throw from London, I wouldn’t swap our Devon life for anything.” Relocating can be a petrifying decision to make but from experience I know personally it can be the best thing you will ever do.

Turning inward to make big lifestyle changes is always a good idea. If we are struggling to make a choice about something important, the answer usually always lies within us. Nadine from ‘JuggleMum’ tells us “2016 so far has been very reflective for me. I’ve been turning inward to find the answers I seek. Learning to honour that inner voice and trust that it knows what’s best. Then acting upon it. Whether that be daring to try the new thing that scares me or opening up on my blog in a real and honest way and allowing myself to be vulnerable. Our instinct is to protect the vulnerable and often this is by not showing it, but I’ve found that actually putting it out there and being willing to deal with the consequences is a source of real strength.” I think Nadine is absolutely spot on with her observations about our gut instincts. I found over the years it has rarely let me down.

I think feeding our soul can often help to strengthen our instincts. A strong, healthy mind and body gives us confidence, which in turn gives us a more definite sense of intuition making it easier to reach decisions. Amanda over at ‘Ana Mum Diary’ shares some great tips on taking better care of ourselves and how small changes can make us healthier and happier. I feel better just reading her post.

Talking of making small changes, a few years back I finally quit smoking for good. I won’t sugar coat it, giving up nicotine was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I was determined to make some changes to benefit my health before I hit forty and I achieved that. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it, so if you have been thinking about making decisions about changing your lifestyle or becoming a healthier you, then give a go; I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Hope you all have a happy and healthy summer,
Lots of Love,
