Over the past couple of years, Save the Children has been working with bloggers in novel and innovative ways to help parents and children at risk around the world. This Saturday, 17 September, it’s hosting a free blogging and vlogging conference in London, at which bloggers can learn new skills and meet some of the charity’s health worker heroes.
Jennifer from BritMums (@JHowze, www.jenography.net) will be there, speaking alongside some of our favourite bloggers – @Nickie72, @ChristineMosler and @KateTakes5. We’ll be talking about starting blogging. Other sessions will include video blogging (something we think everybody should be doing) and taking your blog to the next level. If you want to use your blog for good causes, if blog about other parts of the world, if you’re interested in women’s and children’s health, or if you’re just interested in how blogs tell stories, you won’t want to miss this day.
Director of Emergencies Gareth Owen will talk about the crisis in East Africa and bloggers like Christine and Tracey Cheetham will describe their experiences visiting a clinic in rural Mozambique. You can also join STC’s Health worker campaign, which puts the focus on the people who help save lives:

The conference starts at 9:30 and you catch Jennifer at 12:00 in the session “Blogging 101: Everything you need to know about blogging but were afraid to ask.”

This does sound very interesting and would love to go. I wish more of these things were during the week when kids are at school as I want to spend the weekend as a family. I might try to pop in for a couple of hours but family time is so limited and precious!
