It’s my anniversary, not my wedding anniversary of course, hardly a month has passed although it does seem much longer. No the anniversary I am celebrating this month is one year of editing the BritMums blog and boy has that year flown by!
Like any new job the first few months were a bit scary, I was praying to get it right and please the bosses 😉 I was also juggling home, school, work and trying to organise my time around my new commitments. No I still haven’t worked that one out yet BUT one year under my belt and I certainly feel a lot more comfortable. I no longer panic I’m going to blow up the entire BritMums system by tapping the wrong key for example.
I always think you’ve got to give a new job a year and here I sit excited at the prospect of another year ahead.
So what does my role involve?
Well we currently have 28 round-ups scheduled so I’m in touch with the editors, some need gentle reminders they are due soon, others work fabulously on their own. Sometimes life may get in the way and an editor needs more time so we reschedule and so on.
Then there are guest posts to organise. Now why haven’t you been in touch with me? Writing a guest post for the BritMums blog is the perfect platform to shout out who you are and gain new readers. If you have an idea, email me info@britmums.com take a look at other guest posts for inspiration but keep in mind BritMums is for the community. We want to showcase our members, their blogs and their social media too. Don’t be shy, jump on in.
Another task of mine is keeping the BritMums Carnival schedule up to date. This is a great way to meet other readers and read blogs you may not have heard of before. It’s a way to reach new readers or to offer your readers a host of material to enjoy over coffee or lazy weekends. It’s also the perfect way members can share link juice, by taking part in each carnival you start to gain links back to your blog and that way Google gets to see you more often, simples!
On that same note, if you want one of your posts included in the round-ups; done a brilliant review? Contact Mirka. Got an excellent recipe? Emma Raphael is your girl. If you’re shouting out about politics Sonya would love to hear about it. The latest round -ups to join the team are Emma White who runs the mental health round-up, then there’s Livi who’s looking out for the best snapshots taken each month, On Sunday Sarah is debuting the Teens and Tweens round-up be sure to take a look and this month sees Emma return with the Literature round-up.
To make life easier, BritMums has a Round-ups tab where you can reach them all in one place.
So lots of things to do for me which is why I do love a To Do list I even blogged about it in the hope it would inspire me to get stuff done. I can hereby declare that number 2 on my list can be crossed off *sigh of relief* only 10 more things to get through.
ONE LAST MENTION has to be the BiBs. You only have one week left to nominate yourself or your favourite blogs please, please don’t forget nominations close on the 12th April.
Have a great weekend and please link up your #MBPW from the last week below, if you have time please visit a couple of others and leave a comment too
