Positively Inspirational Round-up: Blogging through the tough times

inspiration round upEach month I enjoy putting together this round-up of posts from our parenting blogosphere, posts that are positive and upbeat and inspire us to create, to enjoy and to be. This month I am focusing on the other side of inspirational. There are so many posts out there about the things that are happening in everyday life but perhaps most would not call them positive. However, I just can’t help but be inspired to live better, to try harder and to do more when I read these raw but very real posts.

RIP beautiful angel

I’m sure most people will have read one of Jennie’s recent posts about the death of her beautiful 9 month old daughter Matilda-Mae. It is tragic that Jennie and David lost their daughter to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), there seems no reason as to why Matilda-Mae died but if you have seen Jennie on twitter or read her recent posts you will know she is a tower of faith. Jennie acts as an example to us all – demonstrating her humility, strength, faith and resilience at this horrific time. Of course I realise she is broken inside and Matilda-Mae can never be replaced but even from this very early stage Jennie is encouraging people to start blogs, to talk about SIDS and to raise money for a charity close to her heart in the name of her unique daughter.  One day Jennie, you and your Tilda will be joyous together again and until then William and Esther will kiss away your tears. May you find peace mighty lady.

Goodbye

Another post which has spoken to me in the last month was this one by Mother Badger; she pays tribute to her Grandma who has recently died. You feel the love as she talks about how her Grandma was a second mum to her as her grew up and just read the last paragraph and you feel the gratefulness ooze out of this post. I love that Mother Badger was able to channel her grief into gratitude. In fact this post is exactly how I feel as my own beloved Nan passed away in February and I can’t feel grief, not when she no longer feels any pain and she is rejoicing eternally in Heaven.

Living with the enemy

The next post I’d like to shout out is this one from Jean at Not Supermum she urges each one of us ladies to take the threat of breast cancer very seriously and reminds us not to be embarrassed if we find a lump and need to see the doctor. You are not wasting anyone’s time and the old saying of ‘it’s better to be safe than sorry’ really does apply here. Jean lost her own mum 6 years ago and reminds us how hard it is to be left with unanswered questions and a longing for a Mum who has passed away. The words ‘if only’ are so poignant in this post.

A brush with suicide

I’m really fortunate to be able say that I have never been in the situation where suicide has crossed my mind or where I have found someone who has attempted it. Of course I know people that have tried and I recall a guy at college killing himself, how that rocked our course when I was just 19 years old. Surely nothing could be that bad we all said? But something obviously was and thank goodness for Alyson to be driving on a particular route a few weeks back for she spotted a man about 10ft up on a bridge and it struck her as wrong, so she didn’t drive by, she stopped for him. Read what happened, would you have stopped?

Enough is Enough

I’ve just watched a very short video (under 90 seconds) over at Kate Takes 5 and it has made my stomach turn, you need to have a look and see what is happening to children in Syria. Simple and moving is this post; a picture of Kate’s 6 year old sleeping soundly and then the tale of a child of the same age wanting to take a gun and kill everyone. We have to step in and say enough is enough, visit Save the Children and see how you can help too.

#TeamHonk
I can’t finish off this post without a big shout out and congratulations for Annie, Penny and T. These three sensational bloggers have done some amazing work for Comic Relief this year from travelling to Ghana, to mountain climbing and bike treks and of course hair snips! There is so much going on in our world and Jess at Catch a Single Thought has written a lovely post about Comic Relief reminding her of the need for perspective. I seriously recommend you head over and remind yourself of just how lucky you are.

Have you read any posts this month that you want to direct me to, posts that deal with the tough times and still manage to inspire?

Wishing you a very happy Easter, catch you next month.  Mich x

About Michelle Pannell

Mummy from the Heart is the fourth baby of Michelle, a 46 year old (manic) mother living in East Sussex. Having moved to the countryside and ‘retired’, Michelle can now be found eating too much cake and taking long walks. She lives life on the bright side and looks for the joy in every situation, even the excess pounds those cakes keep adding! Michelle’s blog is a very honest place where she shares tales of imperfect parenting, being a Christian digital activist and anything else that takes her fancy.

Lots of very inspiring posts.

I am amazed myself by the number of people who have referred to me as inspiring recently too. I blog openly about my Cancer and have been overwhelmed by the number of private messages I've had, from people opening up to me. The support from the blogging community has been incredible too. Xx

Hi Michelle, I don't at all wish to blow my own trumpet but I have relaunched my blog recently after a miscarriage. I'm not sure if it's very positive or inspirational yet, but I hope to get there and that being honest about miscarriage might help others to handle going through it too. Thank you :) http://tryagainbaby.wordpress.com
