Hello and welcome to August edition of the BritMums home and design round-up. Its been great catching up with all of your makeovers and home posts, and I’ve a bumper collection of beach themed ones I wanted to highlight. First up though, is what I’ve been getting up to. Well, I’ve been getting my craft on, and putting the final touches to my en-suite makeover with a collection of vintage style artwork , so hopefully now, I can move onto my next project, the dreaded utility room.
I’ve also loved the new feature on the Side Street Style Blog : Snippets from our home, as having a nose around other people’s houses, is one my absolute favourite thing to do…Laura has a lovely home, I’m sure you’ll agree.
With this in mind, have you spotted the new and frankly genius feature from Penny at A Residence called ‘Through the Key Hole’? She posts photographs of a bloggers home on her blog, leaving us to guess who’s it could be. My favourite so far has been this one, but then I’ve always been a sucker for a Hilda Ogden like ceramic bird.
Love Lemon, has been making over her spare room, and pondering how when you rent, it really shouldn’t stop people making a room feel like their own. It’s a nautical/beach themed room, with a gorgeous navy wall, and an impressive set of oars, I must say. A fab makeover Katy, thank you for sharing! I had similar thoughts when I visited a rental cottage in Portland, and looked at the ways a holiday cottage was given an inexpensive and subtle beach theme.
Keeping with the nautical theme it was great catching up with the huge Maybush Studio makeover. An absolutely beautiful bathroom, with very striking beach hut wallpaper. This gorgeous bathroom, must be bliss to have a relaxing bath in.
Finally I wanted to share with you a great makeover post just in time for the children returning to school. Antonia of Tidy Away Today, has completed a brilliant vintage school desk makeover, that I am very envious of!
That’s all for this month, but if you would like to be featured in the BritMums round-up next month, please tweet me at @gidders1, see you in September!
