I think it is because half term was immediately followed by Halloween and then Bonfire Night. In my head now it is all about Christmas preparation and my round-up last month was where to see Father Christmas so you could all get organised and book tickets to see the big man nice and early.
But now, I am looking back at all the fun everyone had in half term. We were lucky enough to go away to Norfolk and stay at Potters Resort. Whilst we were there we spent a day in Great Yarmouth but the highlight of our stay had to be a visit to the magical world of Bewilderwood. If you have not been, trust me, it is a place where everyone, young and old, is positively encouraged to release their inner child for a day.
With half term being just before Halloween, many of you headed out to enjoy a spot of Pumpkin picking. Dear Bear and Beany found some monster pumpkins at Millets Farm in Evesham, Emily and Indiana concentrated on some smaller ones at the Pick Your Own Farm in Ashford, whilst Le Coin De Mel’s boy was determined to bring back the biggest one he could find at Willows Activity Farm.
Still on the pumpkin theme, Yorkshire Wonders took part in some Pumpkin Sculpting and Pumpkin slinging at York Maze and we enjoyed some Lego Pumpkin making at Legoland and their Brick or Treat event. Sadly we didn’t stay for the fireworks but Blog Bay Bee braved the torrential rain to see thousands of Lego Bricks explode in the air with the help of some special 3D glasses, whilst Adventures of Adam headed to Birmingham for some more Lego fun at Brick Live.
Seeing wildlife was also a popular activity and Crafts on Sea headed for the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. We got up close and personal with some slightly more scary creatures at Marwell Wildlife, Emily and Indiana enjoyed seeing wild fowl at Pensthorpe Natural Park, Big Family Little Adventures headed for sea creatures at London Aquarium and CharlieMoos headed for the Spooky Seas at Weymouth Sea Life Centre.
North East Family Fun looked like they had a blast at the Day of the Dead Juice Festival in Newcastle which had craft activities, face painting and music to enjoy and they then continued the fun at Preston Park House and Gardens. Cardiff Mummy Says got involved in building a huge Wicker Man at St Fagan’s Natural History Museum, The Life of Spicers enjoyed some spooky fun at Corfe Castle and The Ordinary Lovely visited the weird and wonderful village of Portmeirion.
Actually Mummy and crew headed to the forest to release their inner monkey’s at Go Ape, Sew Kidding was in toy heaven at Kidtropolis, A Strong Coffee saved the world with her family at Si5 Spy Missions and Big Family Little Adventures enjoyed MCM Comic Con.
Fireworks were another popular activity from the half term break and Adventures of Adam headed to Drayton Manor for their Star Wars Laser and Firework spectacular and Yorkshire Wonders headed to Frightwater Valley for theirs.
Thank you for all your submissions for the round-up. Don’t forget you can tweet them to me @Chelseamamma or drop me an email and if you have any posts from half term you wish to add, please pop them on the linky below.
