Emma Bradley & Lynn James
Do you dream of earning a full time wage from your blog? I did and now I’m making it work. Read on to find out how and get 5 tips on blogging your way to riches.
Emma’s personal story
Three years ago I was exhausted from teaching and bringing up my three children. My children were not little; in fact they were (in order) starting GCSEs, starting secondary school and starting primary school. However I have always said that the older your children are the more they need you. I was trying to balance school, lesson preparation and marking with taking the children to their sports clubs and helping them with homework.
I decided to leave teaching and make blogging my full-time income. My friend Lynn James’s story is remarkably similar, although she was working in the corporate world as an account manager.
In September this year we met at a blogging event and ended up chatting and chatting. By the end of that first meeting I had an idea and the very next day I spoke to Lynn about writing a book, only to discover she too had been thinking the same.
The beginnings of the book
Since that day we have worked like we have never worked before! Blogging Your Way To Riches was prioritised over everything else. We wanted to show others that blogging is a respectable career choice and that you can make a really good living from it. The book has chapters on pitching, collaborations and diversifying your income streams. In addition, it shares our personal stories and the mistakes we made along the way.
An affordable resource
Blogging courses can be expensive but our book is accessible to everyone as it is only £14.99 and it is available at Amazon and via our website Blogging Your Way To Riches. We took what we had learnt from blogging on our own sites — Emma and 3, Mums Savvy Savings and Lynn’s blog Mrs Mummy Penny — and have written this recipe for success that you can put into practice yourself.
What the book includes
The book gives bloggers the skills needed to turn their blogs into a profitable business. Chapters include:
- How to work with PR agencies
- How to network
- How to make money from your blog
- How to Pitch
Our book – this first of its kind — is written by regular UK bloggers for UK bloggers. We only used other self-employed women to help us, one to design our website, one to take our photos and one to design the book cover.
Women are amazing and we want to share that we can be entrepreneurial and we can create a better work life balance that benefits our families.
Five Top Tips for Blogging Your Way To Riches
1. Write good content
2. Pick a niche and become an expert in your field
3. Make your blog look professional
4. Learn to pitch for opportunities
5. Learn to negotiate better rates
The book will help you make the transition between blogging for a hobby and making money from your blog. With hard work and a bit of planning, it can be done, as we have both shown. Make sure you add Blogging Your Way To Riches to your Christmas list!
