BritMums blogger The Online Stylist commended at Marie Claire awards

Shoes of Marie Claire's Winner of Best Fashion Blog, The Elgin Avenue

Earlier this week BritMums attended the Marie Claire Blog and Twitter Awards at the Music Rooms in South Molton Street. It was 9am but the room was awash in glossy hair, fabulous outfits and shoes that should have their own personal assistants.

Justine Southall, publishing director of Marie Claire, welcomed the bloggers – who nibbled on tiny bagels with salmon and cream cheese and mini-pastries – before the editor Trish Halpin announced the finalists and winners.

We ran into two BritMums bloggers who had been shortlisted:

* Style Guile, by personal stylist Beth Goodrham. Beth demonstrates that good style isn’t limited to the numerous 23-year-old fashion followers who packed the room. She looked stunning in her silver and blue skirt…which she ran home to remove the first chance she got. We take solace in that even women as soignee as Beth acknowledge how we sometimes must suffer for fashion.

Finalists Beth from Style Guile left and Amanda from The Online Stylist who was commended for as a top Fashion Tweeter

* The Online Stylist Amanda Start was also there, looking stunning in a mustard-coloured Eileen Fisher top and wavy blonde hair falling over her shoulders [cue the slo-mo]. Amanda is started blogging as 39 and Counting, then blogging at 40 Not Out before launching The Online Stylist. She was commended in the Fashion Twitter category for her Twitter stream (@_onlinestylist). Amanda is a testament to the power of reinvention…and also a woman who enjoys letting her blogs evolve along with her style. (We also caught Amanda in the cloakroom stowing her Jimmy Choos in her bag and changing into some commuting-appropriate shoes. A woman after our own heart…)

Check out their blogs to see what they wore!
