Welcome to the first edition of the BritMums monthly round-up of reviews and sponsored posts. Every first Saturday of the month you can find me here chatting about what reviews and sponsored posts I have seen around the parenting blogosphere that have caught my eye and engaged me.
For at least a couple of years now the debate has been raging in our arena about whether we should be accepting sponsored content to go on our blogs. Then you have those who say we have sold ourselves out and lost the blogger title and taken on a blagger one. What rubbish I say! It is a completely personal decision and one every blogger should be free to make for themselves with no pressure or judgement from others.
I regularly complete product and service reviews, attend brand events and write sponsored posts. I believe these things add to the diversity of my blog and I always try to add a personal spin to them and include my family in the process. You can amuse yourself with my QVC style vlog of a Vileda mop and visit my recent review of the new Muppets movie.
For this first round-up I thought I would introduce you to some bloggers who I feel excel in the arena of reviews and sponsored posts.
First up is Wendy from Inside the Wendy House, she is one of the hardest working bloggers I know, churning out numerous posts a day, every day. I have absolutely no idea how she does it and the quality of her posts is always strong. She appears to have made really good relationships with companies and PR’s alike. What I particularly like about Wendy’s reviews is that she has the same level of effort and enthusiasm for a £4 product as she does for a much larger one. This is actually something she really enjoys. Take a look at her recent review of the Spice Tailor.
Next up is a woman that I happily read reviews from. Somehow (well strong writing skills I suppose) she manages to write a review in her normal style and make it interesting and relevant. Her titles are so catchy (see Rock Chick) that I often find myself clicking through and with many people I would feel cheated to then read a review or sponsored post but not with Rosie Scribble.
You have to respect the next lady, currently she is writing a series around her goals of exercise and weight loss and she is managing to combine reviews for about 5 products into one series of posts – go Mari! I particularly love this post though, how many other women would you find willing to vlog themselves exercising in their old paint stained leggings?
Then we have my chum Clare at Seasider in the City. I have absolutely no idea where this woman gets the time. I actually refuse to believe that she sleeps, as she works full time, writes a good blog and reviews like a demon! Like the other reviewers mentioned here Clare always puts her own spin on her reviews and makes them look good and read well. I had to smile at her review about her new orange trimmed golf shoes. If you know Clare at all, you will know these made her super happy, golf is her second child!
Then for my last recommendation this month I’ll add in A Mummy Too, a blog I have visited a couple of times before and enjoyed but I had never read one of her reviews as yet. She tweeted me a link and I really liked her honestly, it is always great when a blogger feels happy to tell you that a product is not perfect – take a look at her McCain Jacket Potatoes with Vegetarian Bolognese sauce post.
That brings me to the end of this months recommendations. If you publish a review this month and you think it is worth a mention then tweet me (@MichelleTwinMum) a link and I’ll take a peek – you never know you might just find yourself here on BritMums next month.
If you’ve done a review recently, link it up below so we can all take a look.
About Michelle Pannell
Mummy from the Heart is the fourth baby of Michelle, a 46 year old (manic) mother living in East Sussex. Having moved to the countryside and ‘retired’, Michelle can now be found eating too much cake and taking long walks. She lives life on the bright side and looks for the joy in every situation, even the excess pounds those cakes keep adding! Michelle’s blog is a very honest place where she shares tales of imperfect parenting, being a Christian digital activist and anything else that takes her fancy.

Hi!
I just submitted my Trashies review, but I've just noticed, it seems to already be there? I'm sure I've not put it on twice, has someone else submitted it or something? Just to let you know I'm not trying to spam or anything, Great idea for a link up! @Chaoskay

What a fab idea Michelle! Great review posts are often underrated - I really enjoy reading them (provided they're relevant to me, and written in an interesting way). Will be sure to post my own reviews here each week. xx

You are right, they most definently are. My reviews often take far longer than my personal posts. Cool link them up, it is just once a month though. Mich x
