BorderlessLive 2019: The best sessions to attend

    Facebook0Tweet0Pin0Email0Print0LinkedIn0
28 August 2019 by Jennifer Howze

BritMums is delighted to be curating a stream at BorderlessLive, the new event debuting in early September at Tobacco Dock, London. We’re excited about our sessions, plus a whole lot more at the event.

    Friday 6 September

The session: How to get a big-time book deal – Alice Judge-Talbot, Toni Hargis & BritMums

What it’s about: Even in the fast-paced world of online and social media, books remain a brilliant want to gain credibility and boost your profile. Alice, author of The Back Up Plan, and Toni Hargis, author of Rules, Britannia and The Stress-Free Guide to Studying in the States, talk about how they did it and how you can too.

Why you’ll love it: You likely already have the insight and knowledge to showcase in a book — here’s where you’ll learn how to leverage it.

Alice Judge-Talbot is a Life and Happiness Coach, content creator, author, entrepreneur and for Elfie and Hux as their Mum. You may have seen me talking motherhood in publications such as The Telegraph, where I have a column, Mother & Baby, Women’s Fitness, Gurgle and The Sun.

Toni Hargis began her career as a writer while living and working in the USA. Her first book about US and UK differences was published in 2006, and she began blogging regularly as Expat Mum in 2008. Building on that platform, she then wrote for the BBC America’s “Mind the Gap” web site, and over the years has written for The Wall Street Journal, The Times, and Huffington Post about her expat life. She has also appeared on TV and radio both here and in the US talking about American and British culture. She is now collaborating on a publishing project concerning the #MeToo movement, and drawing from her personal experiences as well as her academic and professional qualifications on the subject.

BritMums is Susanna Scott, who blogs at A Modern Mother, and Jennifer Howze, who blogs at Jenography.net. BritMums is the UK’s original parent influencer network. In addition to the blog and social media presence, they mount commercial campaigns with some of the top blue-chip brands with their network of content creators.

The session: How to crush it on Instagram – Julie Londoner

What it’s about: Making a rockin’ feed. We love Julie and her ever-gorgeous feed, which is abloom with colourful flowers, beautiful buildings and undiscovered corners of London.

Why you’ll love it: You’ll be hearing direct from the source how Julie curates a fabulous Insta feed.

The session: Influencers are dying – Long Live the Content Creators by Budget Traveller

What it’s about: Content, influence and social media has evolved so much even over the past few years. You’ll learn the way forward and how to be part of the next wave of innovation with our friend Kash Bhattacharya, aka The Budget Traveller.

Why you’ll love it: Kash creates amazing content, has published the very cool book The Grand Hostels: Luxury Hostels of the World, has put together fantastic campaigns for clients and is a great speaker on any topic.

The session: Building an engaged community – SORTEDFood

What it’s about: SORTEDfood is one of the world’s largest food and cooking communities on YouTube, creating entertaining video content that focuses on exploring great food, guided by a global online audience. A recent award-winning series, ‘Game Changers’ in partnership with Brand USA, focuses on destination-based travel unlocking foodie hidden gems.

Why you’ll love it: Having a more engaged audience and knowing how to connect with them makes all your work more rewarding.

    The session: YouTube panel

What it’s about: Insights and case studies from awesome YouTubers doing amazing work.

Why you’ll love it: This panel features Being British vlogger Joel Wood (who will share his slice-of-life YouTubing secrets), sex and relationships campaigner Hannah Whitton (who will energise you about making a difference) and travel vlogger Mandy Celine (who will inspire you to create awesome travel vlogs).
