#JoulesSelfie: What we’re wearing to BritMums Live!

The eternal question … what to wear to BritMums Live?!

We’ve done the whole range, from jeans to dresses to platform heels! While it’s somewhat fun to agonise over an outfit (in a masochistic type of way), two days of new clothes can get expensive. If you mix and match, you can get interchangeable quality pieces that create very different looks.

This year Joules offered to help us out. So this is what you’ll see:

Susanna (co-founder): I’m a traditional hour glass shape, with a few too many curves! Also I need to wear flats because of my plantar fasciitis. Jen and I are very busy at the event  — from running up and down stairs to having to open the conference! I also do this really weird thing when public speaking (and drinking) – my neck slowly turns red! So whatever I wear needs to be comfortable and flexible and work with me.

For Friday I picked the blue spotty MARCIE dress, an above-the-knee Empire line frock that hides just about everything. Plus it’s cotton and will keep me cool. I coupled it with a bright pink ANNIE Cardigan and the very comfy CLARINE pink ballet flats. I loved the brightly coloured QUAY countryside-to-coast  scarf so much I went back and bought it myself! It should nicely hide my neck when it turns red on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday I’ll just switch the dress! So same shoes and cardie, but a more causal look in an opal blue floral (which shows off my tan). I’m pairing it with a simple strand of pearls. Perfect.

For Friday I’m wearing a Joules navy blue spotty MARCIE dress with a pink ANNIE cardie and pink ballet flats. The QUAY scarf is very cool and is themed on British countryside and beaches.

For Day 2, the more causal but longer day, I’m wearing the same cardie and shoes, and just changed the pattern on the dress and accessorised with a simple stand of pearls.

Jen (co-founder): Usually BritMums Live is an opportunity for me to splash out on a new dress. This year I decided to do something different: still aiming for elegant but with a preppier twist. It’s a little bit preppy, a little bit Audrey Hepburn, a little bit classic British style.

Joules has outfitted me with some wonderful pieces.

On Friday, from the conference opening til the BiBs party in the courtyard, I’ll be wearing LIA capri trousers (shown here in Indigo Seagull, but mine are in navy blue) paired with the MARSHAMULTI jumper. Normally I’m not big into bullfinch-themed clothing, but decided to get this one on a lark. (Sorry.) For shoes I’ll be wearing wedges my favourite pair of flat leather sandals.

For Saturday, I’m switching out the jumper for the HARBOUR top  — a classic Breton, this one made from an incredibly soft fabric with a pleasing heft.

When I get chilly, in sessions or outside, I’ll pop on the HENFORD blazer in blue, which is cropped, also super soft and fits like a dream.

Here, in my slightly Dada-esque picture (notice the hands), I’m wearing the MARSHAMULTI jumper with HENFORD blazer, whose navy herringbone pattern in matches the navy LIA trousers. I’ve paired it with silver bracelets and flat brown leather sandals

For Saturday, I’ll wear the HARBOUR top with the trouser, jazzing it up with statement necklace and red suede wedge sandals
