05 January 2015 by Trish Burgess

travelJanuary is traditionally the time of year when, according to the TV adverts, we all start thinking about booking our summer holidays. I’m not sure I’m quite that organised this year but thinking about holidays, or even just a day trip, for any time of the year is always a favourite pastime.

The selection of posts below will give you some idea of how BritMums travel bloggers have been entertaining themselves during the Christmas festivities: worth keeping in mind for next year.

Ice-Skating at Webbs of Wychbold – Pinkoddy

Leeds Castle, The Gingerbread Trail – Mari’s World

Sea Life Centre Golden Christmas Experience – Here Come The Girls

Christmas Tree Trail – Boo, Roo and Tigger too

Need to book a hotel in the UK? Here’s an iconic landmark in Manchester and, for family luxury, have a peek at Woolley Grange where Alison and Katy can give you the inside info.

The Mighty Midland Q – Extraordinary Chaos

A Blissful Night at Woolley Grange, Wiltshire – Not Another Mummy Blog

Winter at Woolley – Katy Hill’s Blog

Whether you’re looking to wrap up warm or have some balmy winter sun, here’s some suggestions from outside the UK which might appeal.

Lovin Dublin – Cherished By Me

A Mum’s Guide to Paris in Winter – My Well Traveled Friend

An Afternoon with Krampus – A Bavarian Sojourn

    Lapland 2014-Where do I Start? – Kate Takes 5

What my children say about Moscow – Globalmouse

A family trip to Athens – Mums Do Travel

A beautiful day in Nice – Side Street Style

The Orlando Science Center, Florida – Jennifer’s Little World

Finally, a thorny topic you might want to mull over. Do we indulge our children too much when travelling or is the general public too critical?

If you have any travel posts you would like me to feature next month, please get in touch via my blog or on Twitter @mumsgoneto. You don’t need to have travelled far – backyard blogging is all the rage, don’t you know!

    About Trish Burgess

Trish Burgess started her blog ‘Mum’s Gone To…’ with a series of posts called ‘Mum's Gone To Iceland' where she was extremely ill on a whale-watching trip and thought she would die snow-mobiling on a glacier. Thankfully she survived and continued with less scary family trips: ‘Mum’s Gone To…Canada, Cyprus, Barcelona, Berlin etc. Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne she now lives in South Lincolnshire and travels with her husband and occasionally with her son, who is now at university. Trish can be found on Twitter at @mumsgoneto

I’m with Mummy Central – I’ve far less time for inconsiderate adults than children acting like children…
