Do you want to look and feel good as you get older? At our recent #ThisIsMe Twitter debate, we asked for your tips on how to do just that.
We were joined by leading medical aesthetic practitioner Dr Jonquille Chantrey, and renowned beauty journalist Alice Hart-Davis. The debate was sponsored by Allergan, maker of Juvéderm facial fillers. To find out more about facial fillers or to locate a qualified practitioner visit www.this-is-me.com.
Makeup philosophies
I think it’s important to update your makeup as you age. What suited you as a teen won’t suit you now in your 30s! @goriami
Step out of your comfort zone.Sometimes trying new makeup or hair colours can have a dramatic boosting effect @MSEDollyP
I hardly wear make up. My skin is really healthy. I don’t use soap on it either! @chellemccann
How to have healthy good looks
I love to exercise. I hope this is keeping me younger @clairejustineo
My tip is water and multivitamins. I still have lines but at least my skin is clear @East_Devon_Mum
Multivitamins and cod liver oil makes the world of difference to my skin, hair and nails 🙂 @pipersky1
Not too much make up, exercise often, watch what you eat and laugh and love daily @JacquiMaxted
I find the more stretching I do such as yoga and Pilates – the more relaxed I feel. Also I furrow my brow less as a result @jhowze
Fashionable
I think clothes aren’t about age so much as how you wear them. If you’ve got it, flaunt it! @goriami
I got some great tips from a stylist at BritMums Live two years ago – totally changed what I wear for the better! @mummygadgetgeek
Pilates is my lifesaver @AModernMother
I find a 20-minute power nap at weekend when Mr G entertains the children really makes me sparkle! @goriami
I think not smoking is a big help to a better complexion @suenatal
In some ways particularly with regard to style, many women look better as they age. More comfortable in their skin. @3childrenandit
Skincare tips
I’m lucky if I can find time to moisturise but I find lots of sleep makes a real difference to how I look @Mummy_Central
Don’t forget to moisturise your neck- this is one tip a friend told me I always remember! @megster8
I use a serum daily and I think it works @Maris_World
A good skincare routine with great night cream keeps my skin looking good @goriami
Try and drink plenty of water. You can get free apps to track and it’s a natural skin perk up too @chellemccann
Feeling good while we age
I think aging well is looking happy and healthy @ThreeBoysandCat
Aging is a state of mind along with the physical aging process. Feel positive about yourself and you look good @BlueBearWood
To me aging well means being happy whatever age you are – and a smile takes ten years off any face 😀 @pipersky1
Age is just a number. It’s attitude that counts (Obviously I say this because I’m now 50 :)) @jodiekins22
As you age you redefine your style. Everything changes but change is good … in fact it’s excellent @BlueBearWood
I intend to age as disgracefully as possible but looking pretty damm good while I’m doing it *dims all the lights* 🙂 @jodiekins22
Understanding facial fillers
Think facial fillers are just for celebs? Think again! Read #thisisme real women ambassador stories www.this-is-me.com @MissChantrey
Having the right attitude
The moment you stop worrying about aging you start to notice the world around you @needaphone
I think there is too much emphasis on gracefully. Growing old in whatever way is better than the alternative any day 🙂 @mardykerrie
I think you relax more and become more confident as you age which helps inner beauty @suenatal
I don’t want to tweak anything as I like who I am. I earned those wrinkles 😉 @BeingTillysMama
Great skin. Wrinkles to me are laughter lines that show you can still enjoy life. @Jacintaz3
I don’t think about it really. I embrace my baby tattoo, grey hairs and saggy bits. Signs of a life well lived! @mummygadgetgeek
I’ve started noticing tiny lines around my eyes since the twins were born. I rather like them! @thegoblinchild
I love looking at women older than me as they are so inspirational @Maris_WorldI
Do what feels right for you, not what you ‘should’ most people wouldn’t guess my real age – I don’t think….. @MSEDollyP
The last word
My key tip is to value yourself and see your own individual beauty because then others will @kateonthinice
