It’s the Easter holidays for most of us and time for a break from school. Unless your kids are doing their GCSEs and A Levels, in which case they should be hard at work revising. Right?
Would you believe the Teen and Tween Round-up has been going for a whole year now? It’s really grown since the first one back in April 2013 and has lots of regular contributors, as well as some that have just popped up once or twice and hit us with some amazing posts.
Got a child who is smack-bang in the middle of their tweens? Noticed an unwelcome change in behaviour recently? Sarah from Skimmed Milk has and she shares her very useful tips on handling tween behaviour. Well worth a read!
Ojo’s World’s son is starting secondary school in September. It’s a tough time for all kids, but even harder when your child is different. Does anyone have any advice for her?
The issue of social networking for tweens and when is the right time is a thorny one. I’m totally with Northumberland Mam aka the worst mum in the world – no Facebook until 13!
Do your kids pick their clothes up off the floor or put their plates in the dishwasher? If they do, I’m very jealous! And so is Mama Owl. I love this open letter to her kids about these little niggles.
Friends are so important at this age. But over at MumofThree World, my eldest has an unfortunate habit of losing friends to the seaside. So I’m really pleased that he’s made a new friend now.
I was very moved by the 40 Year Old Domestic Goddess’ post on her son turning 13. Maybe it’s because my own son isn’t too far behind, but I think it’s mainly because it is a beautifully written post straight from the heart.
Another child making the transition from tween to teen is Jaime’s daughter at The Olivers Madhouse. Jaime has some wise words for her daughter for the future. I wonder how many of them she will follow?
40 Year Old DG is back again with this post – on the traditional morning argument between teens. Who else can relate to this?
It’s not unusual for kids to grow up without one of their biological parents, but I found this post from Teen Tween Toddle particularly sad. The teen and tween’s biological father hasn’t seen them in years and sadly makes no effort, which is upsetting for the teen.
Anyone been round Rock ‘n’ Roll Mum’s house and nicked all the hair grips? C’mon, own up, one of you has done it… It’s NOTHING to do with her teenager having a very untidy bedroom.
It’s a theme we touch on most months, but it can never be said enough – Tiaras and Prozac shares her tips for talking to girls and complimenting them in a positive way so they don’t think, for example, that they must be thin or wear make-up to be pretty.
Kat from Kat Sighs is going through a tough time with her 14 year old son. Is he too young to be staying over with his girlfriend? Kat certainly thinks so and I would agree. What do others think?
Now her kids are getting older, Suzanne from 3 Children and It is turning the tables on them and embarrassing them. I don’t do enough of these – must try harder!
Zena’s Suitcase is joining us for the first time. She doesn’t often blog about her teenage son, but is sharing her pride at how well he is doing with his maths – and why not? We don’t just blog to moan about our kids!
With her mum of teens days nearly behind us, there is no better person than Izzie Anderton to advise us parents (and our growing kids) of the lessons her daughters have learnt the hard way – important things like food burns if you leave it in the oven too long and it goes off if you leave it in the fridge to long!
