When you become a parent, you tend to concentrate more on the baby’s outfits than your own. When the sleepless nights become a thing of the past, how do you rediscover your own style whilst ensuring it is adaptable to the demands of family life?
Comfort and style are no longer mutually exclusive. BritMums held #SeibelStyle Twitter party to share how useful tips and inspiration from parents. The party was sponsored by Josef Seibel, one of Europe’s longest established shoemakers, which combines style with comfort, crafted by hand.
Here are bloggers’ and tweeters’ best tips on how to be comfortable and stylish:

Accessorize
1. Accessories can finish off a “comfy” outfit. Comfortable doesn’t have to mean drab! @rhodak09
2. Accessorizing even the most boring of outfits can make a difference! Some nice jewellery lifts my spirits too! @JanBagnall
3. Invest in one or two belts that you love and will live with you for years, no matter what the current fashion is @Jumblymummy
4. Oh yes scarves too, have quite a collection from all over the world @makimka25
Dare to Be Different!
5. I like to dress how I like and not fit in with the crowd! @V82CHRIS
6. Don’t be afraid to wear casual shoes with dressy attire – my sister’s entire wedding party will be wearing Converse! @silentbeauty
7. To me I’m happy not to be a sheep in a world of fashion. I like that my style is unique. @petitmew
8. In terms of style don’t be afraid to be bold & wear shoes with a bit of colour – they can really help an outfit to pop! @silentbeauty
Old Favourites
9. I love linen trousers for summer, they are versatile and aren’t affected by “fat days” @goriami
10. I have a gorgeous brown velvet classic film star coat that’s lasted me YEARS, always noticed. @storyofmum
11. I wear lots of patterns – with small children they’re great for hiding sticky finger marks and lumpy bits! @platespinnermum
12. Leggings or skinny jeans, long T-shirt/tunic tops and pretty flats are my stylish staple that suits all body types @MrsMcGregor23
Shoe Sense
13. We wouldn’t dream of putting our kids in ill-fitting, foot-damaging shoes but we happily do it to our own feet! @platespinnermum
14. Always worth spending a few more pounds on “good” shoes as your feet will be so much happier @Maris_World
15. You can buy some stylish pumps rather than heels to save your feet @_cathyj_
16. Preferred mode of transport is flip flops (ever since I had a baby as my feet got so far) @manaiasmama
17. I always make sure when I travel I wear kick-off shoes @baggiesbabe69
Inject A Little Va-Va Voom
18. My only concession to stylish living these days is to put on some mascara. Always get compliments when I do, must try harder! @storyofmum
19. I always wear flats but sometimes dress up jeans with platform heels, even if just for an hour at a party @amodernmother
20. If you want to be truly unique, visit the vintage clothes shops, they’re a real treasure trove @makimka25
21. Buy some old necklaces and bracelets from car boots or charity shops & restyle into new pieces @ZoeandDrew
Top Tips
22. Don’t kid yourself that a size smaller looks better – the right fit will do you more justice and be more comfy! @platespinnermum
23. Go shoe shopping late in the day, your feet have swollen to largest; you know your shoes won’t pinch @meedja
24. Layering clothes is also good for travelling in summer especially in the UK @Pagan500
25. A really good haircut can also make a huge difference to how stylish you feel @ZoeandDrew
26. A decent bra makes all the difference to an outfit @ChelleMcCann
27. I’ve learnt to try something new every now and again, you never know it might look fab @welshmumsof3boys
The Last Word
28. It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it @baile1kim1
So there you have it. Life as a parent is busy but you can ensure that you remain an individual who expresses you own unique style.
