Hello! The Single Parent RoundUp has been a little quiet over the summer (and early autumn) – but we’re back now, and are we ever back with a bang!
Anya from Older Single Mum has been doing a fab job of standing up for single parents everywhere, by presenting to the NCT Conference – well done Anya, sounds like you did a brilliant job of disproving the prejudices!
Ally from Messed Up Mum has written an absolutely gorgeous post about being an independent woman. It’s a post that really resonates with me – I feel it’s important to show the positive side of life as often as possible!
Clare from Dorset Divorcee wrote a brilliant post about having a Sliding Doors moment when she and her ex co-hosted a birthday party for her daughter. It’s a really interesting thought – what if…?
Martyn from Inside Martyn’s Thoughts did something very interesting earlier this month; he hosted a guest post from his ex, the mother of his sons. I found this a really interesting read; it brought me a newfound respect for people who are able to put their differences aside and co-parent effectively.
Hannah from Hannah Spannah Coco Banana has written a post about co-parenting as well. She’s had hard time with illness lately, and that’s had an adverse effect on her co-parenting arrangement. This is a really honest post about how hard it can be to co-parent.
I don’t usually include a post from my own blog, Single Mother Ahoy, but I’m really proud of this one. Cuts to Tax Credits will affect a disproportionate number of single parents when they come in next year, and I wrote a post explaining how that is – and why it’s unfair.
I really feel like we’ve come back with a bang for this month’s Single Parent RoundUp. Single parent bloggers are really showing the world that we’re not standing for the media stereotype. We’re hard working, we’re eloquent and we write cracking blog posts!
If you would like to be featured in next month’s Single Parent RoundUp, please email your submission to [email protected] with “Single Parent RoundUp” in the subject line.
About Vicky Charles
Vicky is a 35 year old single mother with a cheeky 4 year old. She lives in Wiltshire and works as a freelance writer and trainer in blogging and social media. She has been a single mother since her daughter was 2 weeks old, and started blogging to try and give voice to her feelings of “lost-at-sea-ness” that all mothers get, but that single mothers often don’t have any company in. In her spare time, she usually develops addictions to dvd box sets and sometimes cleans the living room… but not often.

Another excellent selection of brilliant posts. Thank you for doing this and for including mine. It’s is a privilege to be put with so many good people 🙂
Thank you Anya. I was delighted when I started putting the post together, to find such a fantastic bunch to pick from!
As a newly single mum I’ll enjoy reading these. Had no idea there was a round-up of posts. Just realising how lonely this can be…. but helps to know how others are coping.
Thanks Donna, if you drop me a tweet (@singlemahoy) I’ll add you to my single parents Twitter list. Feel free to send me a post for next month’s roundup x
