Reviews Round-up: Back to school

reviewsWell! Where did the summer holiday go – they seemed to fly by! Most of you will be well back into the swing of school runs by now, but if your children are anything like mine it really won’t be long until they need something replacing – be that a school bag, a jumper or a pair of shoes that have been scuffed to bits in the playground. So here are the best of the back to school reviews – hope they come in handy this term!

Lunchboxes and rucksacks are two of those items that inevitably end up lost at some point, so we always like to have a few spares. I love the look of this Millican backpack on A Greener Life For Us, and I think it is one that my eldest daughter would choose for high school next year (eeeek!). Smash Kids have a great range of lunch bags, boxes and bottles – thanks to Boo, Roo and Tigger too for sharing the range with us. Play and Learn Every Day has a great lunch post too, featuring Bibetta, Yumbox and a range of packed lunch and snack foods. The Brick Castle have a great list of lunchbox snacks too.

School shoes can be a huge expense, so I always like to read reviews before I buy. Mrs Shilts reviewed these Chipmunk shoes from Debenhams – they look great for younger kids, and I will definitely be bearing these in mind for when my son starts school next September. For the older kids, I absolutely adore the new Kickers shoes – Scandi Mummy saw the range at an event recently and I have to say – they look perfect! Wynsors World of Shoes seems to have something for everyone, so if you’re not sure which shoes to go for this could be a good place to start – thanks to The Teaching Mum for this post. The Mini Me’s and Me like the Startrite school shoes, as do I – the Startrite Rhino Warrior shoes are SO hardwearing, and have stood up to my son playing football in them!

At some stage in the school year, I know I will need to replace some uniform items – they get lost and ruined pretty easily! Being Tilly’s Mummy rates the Aldi Back to School range, Podcast Dove really likes the Marks and Spencer uniform and Mummy of Two has reviewed the Nutmeg school uniform from Morrisons. A Strong Coffee has been taking a look at the Matalan school range – I didn’t even realise they did uniform until recently!

Labelling uniform is such a tedious job, which is why I love the My Name Label stick on and iron on labels, as reviewed by Mrs Savage Angel – saves SO much time!

For the inevitable wet school runs, you will need a good coat – something like this Muddy Puddles Puddleflex jacket as reviewed by Max and Mummy, or the Regatta waterproof pack-it jacket from Debenhams.

Finally, for a lovely momento, check out this back to school year book on Keep up with the Jones Family – I absolutely love it!

Hope this back to school [post helps you through the autumn term and beyond – before we know it we will be breaking up for the Christmas holidays!

Thanks for including my ‘healthier’ snacks in the round up! Some great posts there – I’m a fan of Start-Rite shoes too 🙂
