Reviews Round-Up: Christmas gift ideas

ReviewsI don’t know about you, but I am so excited for the holidays! OK, I know some of you may be dreading having the kids all day, every day. But, let’s be honest, you can’t wait to see their faces light up during all the festivities, especially as everyone opens their presents. Luckily, I have got most of my presents sorted, except my dad (how many times can you buy a man a shirt and tie set?), which is why I have been reading every review and gift guide I have come across, including the reviews you linked up to last month’s round up.

If you are stuck for someone’s Christmas present, then my favourites from last month’s round up should help you find a present for everyone! And if you still don’t find something, then check out the latest additions in the linky below, because I am sure there are going to be a lot of gift reviews coming up.

So without further ado, here are my favourite reviews of gift ideas from the last round up.

For New/Expectant Parents

A good night’s sleep get harder towards the later stages of pregnancy, so consider the Baroo Ellefunk Maternity pillow as reviewed by The Breastest News for any pregnant woman you know. I’m sure sleep is all any heavily pregnant woman wants this Christmas.

New parents need sleep and that will only happen if their baby sleeps. So if you are trying to find something for a newborn and his/her parents then consider the Gro-hush as reviewed by The Dadventurer. He has a video review to show this sleep aid in action with his newborn.

Another great gift for a new parent is a baby carrier, because multitasking is key (i.e. having both hands free whilst keeping your baby content). Knott Bump and Us have been trying out the new Baby Bjorn We Carrier, and highly recommend it. There is even a video review for you to check out.

For Babies, Toddlers and Children

If you are trying to find something for a young baby, then Mummy’s Blog recommends the VTech Moosical Beads, which her baby has loved since she was three months old and still loves at seven months too.

For toddlers and young children, my latest video review on Kiddy Reviews is for the Toot Toot Train Driver’s Station Not only do I tell you about its pros and cons, but you can also watch my video to see how I get on with building it with my one year old in the vicinity and what he makes of it.

Do you know any Barbie fans? Barbie’s Malibu House is a classic and will always be a favourite, in my opinion. Mummy’s Little Stars’ son and daughter both love it.

Alternatively, for the superhero fans, Mummy’s Little Stars has also reviewed the Ultimate Spiderman Go Glow Pal, which any young fan will think is pretty cool.

For Beauty & Fashion lovers

It can be tempting to get children cheesy Christmas wear, but how about opting for something a little more stylish and which can be worn even after the festivities are over? The London Mum has been testing out French baby clothing brand, La Queue Du Chat, which has chic baby fashion written all over it.

One thing I have always done around this time of year is buy myself a new pair of pyjamas and it seems I am not alone. Teen Tween Toddler has recently had a pyjama party with House of Fraser. I have never tried their PJs, but the review is great and I may just have to try them out.

Do you know someone who is always on the go but loves to pamper themselves, just may not have the time? Then Bod for Tea’s review of the Dr Hauschka Daily Facecare kit may find you the perfect beauty gift. Compact and presented in a lovely tin case for on the go beauty.

Christmas is a great time to get away and enjoy some quality family time. My Mummy’s Pennies has been to Keswick Country House Hotel with her children and had a great time. Close to the Lake District and the Gruffulo Trail, it sounds ideal for a Winter’s break.

If you fancy a trip away without the kids and oozing luxury, you have to look at Martini Mum’s review of The Treehouses at Chewton Glen. Yes I put treehouse and luxury in the same sentence. Because AT £750+ per night, this is one tree your children are not going to climb, let alone find you in. Outdoor jacuzzi, on a private balcony, high up in the trees in the middle of a forest, on a chilly Winter’s evening sounds idyllic doesn’t it?

For the Home

If there is one thing everyone needs in this cold weather, it is a hot drink. Tea, Coffee or Hot Chocolate, the Tassimo Vivi reviewed by Lilinha Angel’s World does them all, which makes this a great gift for the entire family. Oh So Amelia has also been testing the Tassimo Vivi out and gives it a thumbs up, suggesting this is a great Christmas pressie for hot drinks lovers.

Need a way to spruce up your living space this Christmas? Then check out The Natural Momma in Me’s review of ByElsieB monogrammed cushions. Perfect for your couch, or as a gift to add to your child’s favourite reading or play area in the home.

Want to spruce up the house with beautiful Christmas decorations? Then Rambling Through Parenthood’s review of The Christmas Boutique is for you. She even has a 10% discount code to share with you.

So that’s it for this month. The Reviews Round-Up linky will be having a break over December for the holidays. I’m sure with Christmas and the Boxing Day sales, you will still have plenty of reviews to add to the linky below, so make sure you do. If you tweet me @kiddyreviews using #britmumsreviews, I will RT each of your links.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance! See you in January 2015…

About Jai Dhillon

Jai set up her site, Kiddy Reviews, after her own experiences as a new mum and finding a lack of one-stop review sites for parents. She splits her time between UK and NYC and gets a buzz from finding the best deals on the things she loves (that’s the accountant in her).
A once house proud, domestic goddess, she is giving in to her home being taken over by anything baby related. Goodbye dinner parties, hello playtimes and rolling around on the floor… although she secretly prefers the latter.
When she’s not reviewing or holiday hunting, you can find her curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea, catching up on one too many American TV shows.
