Charity Round-up: Raising awareness matters

charity round upThere are all sorts of issues in this world that don’t get talked about enough. Sometimes this means that the people who need help the most don’t get it. I don’t know what word you use for that but injustice springs to my mind. Bloggers can use their powerful voices to make a difference. Here are some folks doing that for charity. Please go and lend them your support.

Louise has recently experienced the pain of stillbirth. Somebody close to her is taking on a challenge to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in memory of her son Harry Lloyd. Please reach out with a supportive comment and consider donating too.

Steve writes here about how his life has changed in unexpected ways since becoming a parent to a child with an undiagnosed genetic condition. This blog promotes the work of Swan UK a project of Genetic Alliance UK.

NotSupermum highlights a new campaign from Gingerbread the charity for single parents. She gives a personal perspective on the campaign and I have to admit that those are the charity posts I enjoy most.

Did you know that October is Babyloss Awareness Month? Read this incredibly moving post from the beautiful writer who is Mummy Plum and follow the links to some charities who offer support.

Charlotte writes about a debilitating condition that affects girls out of the blue. Have you heard of Rett Syndrome? Go and check out this post and see that the future for those who get it may be a little brighter this Rett Awareness Month.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and Emma writes about her own experiences whilst highlighting 5 warning signs of Breast Cancer. Only 2% of women know 5 warning signs so go and get clued up.

Have you seen the #ONEMums linky doing the rounds? Here’s one of many fabulous entries. Remember ONE asks for your voice not your money so do see how you can get involved.

There is a fair chance if you blog that you have had some sort of secondary education. That is something denied to many girls so please read this post about the International Day of the Girl

When there are awareness weeks and months, there are often several blog posts on the same issue so please do link up yours below.

If you have an interest in helping good causes, do join the BritMums Charity Connections group.

BritMums hope to see you at our Twitter Party with Breakthrough the breast cancer charity this Friday 19th October from 1-2pm.
