Positively Inspirational Round-Up

Summer has been long and very warm. Usually this time of year it is starting to feel a bit chilly as Autumn sets in, but not this year. As I write this, I am sitting in my back garden, sun hat slanted to one side, sunglasses perched on top and the sun is beaming down upon me as if it were a hot summer’s day. It’s hard to believe that soon we will be switching on the heating. I’m determined to enjoy the last of the sunshine by staying outside as long as possible. I’m not quite ready to let go of the summer, not just yet.

Annie from Manneskjur has been encouraging us to embrace the great outdoors with her beautiful ‘Nature Seekers’ series. I am so in love with this lovely collection of inspiring words and pictures, they really urge me to get out and seek more nature. Stunning photo’s this week from her husband’s recent trip to Scotland.

Another post that has me itching to get outside is from Kirsteen over at ‘Life In My Houseful Of Boys’. Take a magical walk through the woods with Kirsteen and her gorgeous boys as they explore nature at it’s best, collecting conkers and pine cones, while searching for places where the ‘little’ people live. A lovely way to spend the afternoon, enjoying the change in season.

Autumn marks not only a change in season for some, but also a transition in family life as many older kids head off to Uni, some returning and others leaving for the first time. Melanie from ‘The River Cottage Diaries’ writes a bittersweet post about her Son leaving for University, she tells us “you realise that all the preparation in the world hasn’t made you ready for this moment.”

A post that can not go un-mentioned this month is from Charlotte over at ‘Write Like No-ones Watching’ . A touching letter to a newly single mum, it explores the highs and lows of single parenting. It contains a really positive message for anyone who might be struggling with the thought of becoming a single parent. She writes “Single parents. Modern families. However they are made up. They aren’t wrong. Lesser. Imperfect. Flawed. They are all perfect as they are.” I know a lot of people will draw strength from Charlotte’s words.

Everywhere I look at the moment I see people are attempting to give up smoking with the ‘Stoptober’ campaign. I managed to ditch the habit about seven years ago and it was one of the most difficult things that I have ever done. I really needed every single bit of support that I could get my hands on. Andrea from ‘All You Need Is Love And Cake‘ tells us her reason for backing the campaign. Warning: Have your tissues ready.

I’ll leave you this month with a heartwarming post from Becky Bedbug ‘The Language Of Love‘ telling us about a campaign to get more Brits to think about the way they express their love and to be more forthcoming with our expression. In this thought-provoking post, Becky shares her love for her family.
