George Osborne announced his 2014 Budget on the 19th of March. You can read the key points in this piece in The Guardian. But what did bloggers make of it? Well, the fairly tactless and now infamous ‘Bingo and Beer’ posting by Grant Shapps on Twitter was what got my goat, and inspired me to make some of my own suggestions.
Mum Vs Austerity looks at how statements like that just prove that the government have no understanding of real working people. Lynn at A Slice of Lemon’s Cake used her artistic talents to create a fabulous video summing her feelings about the budget and more. Frugal Queen takes a more practical approach, leaving politics to one side, she has her own common sense budget for families.
The other hot topic this month was the Teacher’s strike. My son’s school was closed for the day, and I was proud of them for making a stand, as I believe they are striking for far more than their own gain, but for the future of education. As a parent I want the best for my children, and I believe teachers need listening to. This fabulous post from Parent Shaped – Penny is a former teacher and gives us the insider view of what it is like to be a teacher, and the many reasons behind the strike. Sceptical Mum is a teacher who took part in the strike, she tells us why she does not want to be on strike, but felt she must. Small Bum Big Adventure gives her views as a mother.

All Aboard The Trauma Train reflects on her own families experience of adoption after watching a recent Channel 4 documentary and looks at whether allowing more contact with birth families is something that is getting overlooked at the cost of the child.
Kate On Thin Ice questions if all the advice we are given is truly helpful, and wonders how society would cope if we all live to 200 anyway.

I was shocked to read this article as it was listed under ''BritMums' Politics Round Up', yet showed a one sided account from an individual who quite clearly is left leaning in their political views.
I was under the impression Britmums was neutral in politics and a parenting organisation and forum - was I incorrect? Perhaps you should clarify?

Hello, I do try to include a variety of views, and there are often posts included that hold very different views from my own. I sent out several requests on twitter, which were shared by Britmums, asking for posts on the budget and striking, or any other relevant political posts, and the above reflects those submitted this month. If you yourself write posts of a political nature reflecting your own views, please do tweet them to me or email to sonyacisco@hotmail.co.uk - I never discount posts with opposing views to my own, in fact I would love to find more of them in order to achieve a better balance.
