The sun has arrived, baking hot temperatures are here and the school holidays are about to begin. With long Summer evenings ahead it’s the perfect time to get out in the garden to eat. Alfresco dining is popular in the Summer months, it’s a style of dining that is very casual and laid back, can also be party like in its atmosphere.
So for this month’s Pinterest roundup, you will hear from parenting bloggers who are talking about good Summer food and al fresco dining. Perfect for a little inspiration. Oh and don’t forget your Summer garden party essentials as recommended by Evenangelsfall.
Picnic Food Ideas
If you are looking for picnic food suggestions Wendy from Daisies and Pie has a fantastic resource for picnic sandwich ideas, snacks, and salads. Her pin is bright, shows the food and makes you drool! If you are gluten-free, Ruth over at Craft with Cartwright has a bundle of picnic ideas perfect for the gluten-free diet. Ruth’s Pin reminds us of those long hot Summer days lying in a field with a picnic basket. Very Summery and seasonal. For vegetarian diets, Leta from Attachment Mummy has a fantastic selection of sweet and savoury foods. The pin that accompanies the post is simple but effective. It catches your eye as you scroll through and showcases a few of the dishes in the post.
Al fresco Dining
Starting us off for good food to eat outside is Becky from 3 Princesses and 1 Dude with her ideas for lunch al fresco style. Sweet and spicy gammon pineapple skewers straight from the BBQ. Becky showcases her food on the pin, alongside a detailed title. This wonderful easy to put together Italian aperitivo platter with tasty cheeses, charcuterie, vegetables and fruit from Andrea at The Petite Cook is ideal for a garden party. You could also make
A good potato salad is always delightful this time of year. This Greek potato salad from Daisies and Pie looks divine as well as Danielle’s Jersey Royals new potato dish from Someone’s Mum. Both of the pins are made using photos of the finished dishes and completely mouthwatering.
Summer Desserts and Refreshments
A refreshing cold cordial with prosecco or lemonade is an ultimate bliss on a hot Summer afternoon. I’m quite taken with the Marvellous Mrs P’s homemade elderflower cordial. These kiwi fruit ice lollies from Lucy over at Baking Queen 74 look rather delicious and easy to make for the children. Lucy’s pin shows the kiwi ice lollies outside in the garden and has a green theme running through her pin to match the lollies to catch the eye. Eva over at Captain Bobcat shares her vegan black cherry cream cheesecake. Which I’m sure will want you looking for more if it tastes as delicious as her pin looks!
