Photo Blog Round Up: Halloween

 

Happy belated Halloween!

There is something about having kids that really brings back your enjoyment of the holidays. I was so excited about Halloween. I wanted to make Baby the most amazing costume. I did loads of research on Pinterest and finally decided to go for a ghost baby costume, made out of tulle.  Two nights before Halloween, my mother-in-law, my sister, my husband and I busily got to work making her costume and trick-or-treating bag. We had loads of fun working on it together. Next morning, I went to try the costume on Baby, so I could do the finishing touches. SHE HATED IT. She broke down in tears and wouldn’t put it on. So rather than beat a dead horse, that night I just made her a really simple black cat costume. I think I can identify as least three lessons in this story.

So, because I was so busy making costumes, I never did a Halloween post myself, although I did do a Halloween fashion shoot with Fluxlings blog. I suppose that will have to count as my Halloween post this year.

That means I’ll have to enjoy other people’s posts on Halloween. Here are a few of my phototastic favourites.

We have to start at The Boy and Me, who hosted a “Show Me Your Pumpkins” linky. I didn’t carve a pumpkin this year, but I love how creative some of these mamas have gotten with their gourds.

Halloween isn’t just about candy. It’s also about fashion, design and fun food. In this post by Louie’s Mummy, she catalogues a variety of interesting Halloween-inspired edible creations that she made with her son. Although she missed out orange Rice Krispie Treats which I love!

If craft is your thing, then this photo-illustrated post on how to make a pom-pom spider on Emmy’s Mummy will float your boat. This would work well for red and green Christmas pom-poms, too. And if that isn’t enough to satisfy your craft desires, then there is an entire Blog Hop attached with loads of crafty ideas.

Finally, I want to share this blog post with you, even though it’s from Halloween 2010, because the little video in it made me well up. It’s from a blog called Love That Max, who is a child with special needs. And I have to say what a pretty awesome costume this is! Snaps to his mum and dad for being so creative and going to so much trouble to make it.
