October half-term film recommendations

Half term is fast approaching in the UK and what better way to fight the cold weather than taking the kids to the cinema for fun in the dark, popcorn in mouths. Here are the films we’ll be watching next week! Enjoy!

turbo

Turbo (U)

Turbo is a small garden snail with big old dreams-he wants to be the most fast and furious snail racer the world has ever seen! An accident might just help him achieve his wish as well as he’s given freakishly fast powers, transforming into Turbo snail soon finding himself on his way to fight for the title in the Indy 500! Voiced by Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti and Maya Rudolph, the film is derivative at times (for an adult audience) but entertaining nonetheless with vibrant, exciting and funny characters who embark on an epic, fast-paced journey which will keep little ones enthralled throughout.

Justin and the Knights of Valour (PG)

Cute wannabee knight Justin dreams of being like his legendary Grandfather, Sir Roland but now Knights are no longer welcome in the  Kingdom by The Queen and have all been replaced by strict Lawyers and all their rules. However after being inspired by ‘Gramps’, Justin bids farewell to his sweetheart Lara and goes off to train to become a Knight…and lucky he does as he soon discovers banished Knight Sir Heraclio is putting together an army to overthrow The Queen and take charge of all the Kingdom. Justin must fight him and save his people but can he do it? Not the most brilliantly told plot and pale in comparison to super witty animations Shrek and Puss in Boots, but it is however sweet natured and good moral fun that children around 8 and under will surely like.

Thor 2: The Dark World (TBC)  Thor is back again, fighting to save the cosmos once more.  Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot beat, he must proceed on his most personal journey yet in a bid to save the Earth and all nine realms. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston star. Great for older children and teens. Here Marvel raise the bar again. A brilliant, edge of your seat watch for all.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2: Revenge of the Leftovers (TBC)

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is the sequel to Sony Pictures Animation’s five star comedy. Inventor Flint Lockwood is invited by his idol Chester V to join The Live Corp Company, where the finest inventors of the world create new technologies to help humanity. Flint has always wanted to be recognized as a fab inventor but soon finds his most infamous machine (which turns water into food) is still in operation and is now creating food-animal hybrids – “foodimals!” so he must now save the world! Voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris and Will Forte. A silly, less sophisticated take than its predecessor, this will still dazzle young cinema goers and make mums and dads laugh at leek jokes!
