I read somewhere recently that the latest thing to do in Paris is “Le Drunch” – a strange name for a combined lunch/dinner… It sounds much more appealing perhaps once you know what it is! After all, what’s not to like about the idea of a long leisurely lunch spilling over into dinner and beyond, and all in one of the world’s finest culinary capitals?
I will admit to travelling to some countries purely for the food alone (and equally would be happy not to return to others for the same reason), and have gained plenty of kitchen inspiration from travels past and present… And it appears that so do many of you! So without further ado…
First up with a “Spanishy” feel, we have Puffin Diaries with her beautiful Spaghetti with Paprika Prawns (if you do not own a tin of this particular Smoked Paprika, it is imperative that you add some to your next shopping list by the way)! Deliceux introduces us to a mouth-watering array of Pintxos, the Basque form of Tapas. I love the idea of pitching up at a tiny Pintxos bar, sampling a few and then moving onto the next to sample a few more! You can’t not have a Spanish desert after all of that, so how about a Catalan crème from My Golden Pear?
Mammasaurus had me dreaming of Mexico with this fiery sounding Scotch Bonnet Salsa… With my chilli addiction I certainly wouldn’t be sharing, but I might get someone else to make it for me (I might provide them with rubber gloves if they’re lucky!!). I would pair it with tortilla chips and this gorgeous jewel coloured Cranberry Margarita from A View From the Table (I am totally in love with her brilliant Friday Lush posts)!
Marmaduke Scarlet had me reminiscing about Vietnam’s Floating markets with this (one of my favourite dishes) very colouful Pho. And Cats Yellow Days has another great Asian dish that you can prepare on a day when everything’s a rush – a Slow Cooker Thai Green Curry – all you need do is cook the rice when you get in!
Mamacook created this Greek inspired Pork Gyros with Tzatsiki especially for this month’s Foodie Round Up, so unlike her Greek friend, I would never ever tell her her Tzatsiki wasn’t up to scratch (and not for one minute do I think it would be)!!
How to Cook Good Food has a delicious looking Spaghetti with Lemon Basil and Chilli to conjure up plenty of Italian travel memories. With pasta this good on nearly all menus over there, I never can manage a Secondi!
Time for a few recipes hailing from the Good old US of A! Us Three By the Sea has a great looking Honey & Mustard Glazed Cola Ham, and you could have some of Homebaked Online’s moreish sounding Peanut Butter Icecream for afters? Or how about some of An English Kitchen’s Rocky Road if there’s any left!!
Kitchen 72, reminds me of Scandinavian life with their Beetroot Salmon Gravadlax, and Mum’s The Word has earned my admiration with a respectable looking attempt at Pretzels (or Brezen as they are known in these parts) from our current neck of the woods…
Quite possibly the cutest things I have ever seen inside a lunch-box – Captured By Lucy’s amazing Japanese Bento creations. I have serious morning organisation envy with this one too!
But before I round-up this month’s round-up, I wanted to give a special mention to a few more brilliant food bloggers, and this year’s BiB nominees! So a huge good luck to: – A Mummy Too, Anne’s Kitchen, Anyonita Nibbles, Babaduck, Brocolli & Rice Cakes, Deliceux, English Mum, Feeding Boys & a Firefighter, Franglais Kitchen, Gourmet Mum, Mamacook, Reluctant HouseDad, Ren Behan, The Crazy Kitchen and What Would Nigella Do? I have my fingers crossed for each and every one of you!
Next month’s Foodie Round-Up will focus on Outdoor Food – from picnics to barbeques, the choice is yours. Join in, link up and discover great new recipes and food bloggers alike!…
About Emma Raphael
Emma Raphael left the UK for Copenhagen in 2009, with her ever-patient husband and two small children. Having enjoyed a couple of years in Scandinavia, Emma and her family found they enjoyed Expat life so much that they now reside in Munich – where the pace of life is relaxed, her language skills are small, and the mountains and bier halls are very large. Being one half of a self-proclaimed foodie couple, Emma enjoys the new produce and restaurants in each new country she resides in, and has made it her mission to convince people that English food no longer deserves the bad rap it once had. She can be found in the kitchen when she’s feeling homesick, trying to recreate comfort food from home. She also has huge passions for travel, photography, art, wine, gardening (although according to her Bavarian neighbours, she’s not much good at that!) and her family (of course)!

Hi, could you please clarify for me, when people add their posts to the linky below the round-up, are they applying for the new round-up? or do you pick your round-up bloggers randomly? TY

Hi Galina, I quite often pick a theme for the following month which I include at the end of that month's round up. People are then more than welcome to link up, and I usually include as many entries that fit with the theme (if there is one!)... But I have a big document with everyone's past entries and refer back to this when I am looking for blogs and recipes to include, so just because a blogger hasn't been included in one round up, doesn't mean that they won't be in another! I hope this helps? :)
