Laugh out loud, or just quietly chuckle to yourself

Going back to school – it will either make you laugh or make you cry. This post Death by training shoe on It’s a Crazy World should do both.

And this is how it was going back to school or nursery for Lisa who blogs at Motherhood or Madness. Be careful what you say to your kids – they will always find a way to use it against you!

Two weeks in I’m still getting into the swing of combining the school run and the office once more. Today ended with the parents meeting with the Year One teacher where we were told how we must support our children in reading. EVERY NIGHT. And how we must help with their homework, and label their PE kit PROPERLY (i.e. not with names that have faded in the wash.) Then we moved on to the traffic light behaviour system and I was just about to beg not to be moved on to the amber warning light – or even worse the red and be sent immediately to the headteacher because my name tags aren’t in the most obvious places … when I realized this was for the children. Still that feeling of embarrassment reminded me of the time I looked through my daughter’s classwork having no idea of the picture she had painted of family life. WARNING – some of these images may offend.

Ok I admit that one of the reasons I like this Party post from Chronicles of a Domestic Goddess is because it could so easily have happened to me – the lesson (that I never will learn) is read instructions and invitations very carefully.

I love this post on etiquette at playgroup dropins from Let’s Dad – especially point 6b about photography – as someone who occasionally takes pictures at school and makes copies for all the parents I am still astonished at the veiled acuusations as to my intentions – usually that I’m trying to make money but invading privacy come a close second … the phrase “no good turn goes unpunished” gets me through though.

And here’s a funny quirky post from Stay at Home dad Mark at Sonny and Luca on what happens (to him anyway) when he takes the kids to the supermarket – who’s doing the talking here? This is one with a twist.

And I love this post from Dangerous Linda in the States on the older woman/younger man combo (ie cougars and .. . and what? Cubs perhaps?) I’ve read it several times and now you get to read it too!

One of the reasons I like doing this roundup is to find new blogs and bloggers that are not necessarily there ones eveyone’s heard of and also to get different viewpoints from other parts of the world. Here you get a sense of life in Vancouver and it’s a situation you can only sympathise with (written in a very amusing way) the age old desire not to bump into  your partner’s exes!

This is a funny tale in email form from the blog Ouchmytoe by Jamshed V Rajan who writes about his real life with his family  in North India. This post though is about his adultery and so is obviously fictional or fanciful anyway – something quite different and very funny.

And finally I found this on Umkaloodie’s blog written from Kuwait. It’s what the British really mean when they say certain things – it’s something she found on Pinterest and I don’t know the origins but it’s certainly had me laughing out loud!
