Firstly I should apologise for not being on the ball last month! Crisis after crisis and a huge first university deadline leap up and attacked all at once!
This month I have hidden away my elf knitting kit, banished the cat and my OH to the other room and am determined to work my way through all those wonderful blogs about education to share the bestest bits with you! So here goes!
Firstly I wanted to mention NJ’s Notebook I know it’s an older post but it is well worth reading! I was so impressed by the staff in this school and the commitment they showed to the kids! Teachers don’t have an easy job and whilst they are not all perfect – far from it – there are many who go with their praises unsung! And whilst we’re on the subject of teachers being let down and slammed Cheetahs in my Shoes has written on their behalf to Michael Gove
Back in October I’m Counting UFOs made a bold move to talk her little ones out of school during term time. An unpopular move for lots of people (and teachers) but as you can see she still learnt, and probably learnt more than she would have done in the classroom!
And I know this is usually snippets from personal blogs, but I read this article/blog post from Tutorfair about how we learn, and it was really interesting so I thought I’d share!
And whilst hunting I came across this from Tales behind the classroom door encouraging children to learn by reading blogs! What more could we want!
Well that’s me for this year – I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year, I hope the school nativity plays are all as joyful as they can be and that there isn’t too much blubbing then the children sing away in a manager!
I’d like to finish on a slightly sad note.
I mentioned before that there are many teachers who go unsung and a year ago this week one of the nicest people and I’m told by people who worked with her, most inspirational teachers Multiple Mummy sadly passed away. So when we raise a glass this festive season, raise an extra one to our beautiful Kerry – much missed by her friends family and former students! Rest in Peace Beautiful lady x x
