Honest Mum’s 15 Top Feel Good Films

Imagine living the same day over and over?!  Weird huh well that’s what happens to weatherman Phil (Bill Murray) with side splittingly funny consequences. A film you’ll definitely relive over and over!

5. Bridesmaids (2011)

Will this film ever get old or stop being funny? No. Never is the answer. If you haven’t seen it yet you’re seriously missing out on 125 minutes of comedy gold, as two maids of honour go head to head for the bride’s approval.

6. Amélie (2001)

A captivating French film starring screen giant Audrey Tatou as a young woman who wanders around Paris altruistically helping others and stumbling across love in the process.

7. The Full Monty (1997)

Another classic that never dates as six unique and funny unemployed steel workers go to the Full Monty…laugh out loud from start to finish!

8. Billy Elliot (2000)

One of the most uplifting films of my generation, an emotive movie about a talented boy and his love of ballet set against the political backdrop of the Miner’s strike of 1984.  British filmmaking at its best!

9. Cool Runnings (1993)

Based on the true story of the first Jamaican bobsled team trying to make the winter Olympics, this made my brother and I take to our sledges one snowy Christmas and reenact the film scene by scene…well until we got too cold that it.

10 Uncle Buck (1989)

Another John Candy classic, this film feels festive but is honestly not just for Christmas. Slob Uncle Buck babysits his brother’s teenage daughter and younger kids changing his and their lives as he goes. I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to enjoy this too!

11. Mrs Doubtfire (1993)

Divorced Dad and actor Daniel (Robin Williams) disguises himself as a nanny so he can care for his kids. Heart-tuggingly moving and hysterically funny all in one go, this is one of Williams’ most brilliant films to date in my opinion.

12. The Wedding Singer (1998)

Robbie, the wedding singer and pretty Julia, a waitress are engaged to the wrong people but before you know it, they discover each other and all is well with the world again. Despite my synopsis, this witty comedy is far from clichéd and the jokes keep coming and coming!

13. Finding Nemo (2003)

One of my all time favourite animation films, I could watch this over and over (and actually do, thanks to my son)…A small clown fish with only one fin goes missing forcing his father to fight his own fears to find him. Don’t forget your tissues!

14. Ratatouille (2007)

A mouse turned visionary chef takes the Parisian culinary scene to new mousy heights in this funny family film. It will make you want to cook cordon bleu immediately after watching…well if a mouse can, right?!…

15. Happy Feet (2006)

Both films 1 and 2 will no doubt make you dance around your living room, raising those endorphins as you go. My favourite has to be the first movie when a penguin is born without the greatest of voices but the most brilliant of dance moves, teaching the world we all have talents to celebrate!  As the title suggests, you’ll feel happier than ever watching this wonderful film!
