Health Round-up: Autumnal inspiration

health round upThe first two posts that I have chosen for this month’s round-up are both though-provoking posts. Starting with Steph at Was this in the plan? In her post; I’d give you one, she talks about her own experiences of parenting a child with the life-limiting Costello Syndrome and how even though sadly her own daughter is unable to have a transplant, she has discussed the possibility of being donors with her other children as she has seen first hand the difference child donors make to other children’s lives. This is a sobering post but a must read post for all parents.

Another inspirational post from Laura from Tired Mummy of Two, whose daughter was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and is now looking forward to a future without cancer. In her post, she talks about the experience but the message is a positive one as she talks about how the experience has inspired them as a family to live life to its fullest.

When you see the photos of Emma’s son Dylan in her post; Herpes Simplex Eye Infections and Dylan, you can understand why she was so keen to get a referral. Dylan has been suffering with swelling and blisters around the eye area for a few years over the spring and summer months and Emma has been trying to get a proper diagnosis, feeling certain that this wasn’t something to do with his allergies. It turns out to be a Herpes Simplex infection and Dylan now has a treatment plan which should help.

As the nights get cooler and darker, embarking on a new healthy regime might be the last thing on your mind, but for some bloggers, that is exactly what they are doing. If you are lacking in motivation, maybe this post from Vanessa from A Happy Healthy Mummy will give you something to think about. In her post Six Habits of Highly Healthy People, she gives you some top achievable tips to help you on your way to a healthier lifestyle.

If you are thinking about a new, healthy eating regime then maybe clean eating is for you. For Hayley from Simply Hayley, September is her clean eating month and she has written a few posts on the basics and updates as to how she is getting on. In her post, Clean Eating Week 2, she gives an update on how she is finding this new regime.

I was quite intrigued by the title of this post from Jenny at Mum of One. In A (slightly insane) belly-busting update #insanity, she talks about her quest to return to her pre-pregnancy weight by investing in the Insanity Max Interval Training DVDs. It certainly sounds like a serious workout and I will be watching with interest to see how she gets on.

If that all sounds a little to energetic, why not go out for an autumn stroll. According to this post I read in The Huffington Post, autumn strolls with their combination of colours and light can improve your mental well-being. Personally, that sounds like the perfect way to make yourself feel better, so what are you waiting for, go grab your coat and enjoy some fresh, autumnal weather.

Don’t forget to tweet me @stressymummy if you have any health related posts that you would like me to consider for future round-ups.
