Well the festivities are over, the tree is down and the tinsel back in the loft for another 11 months. Are you still munching your way through Christmas Cake and chocolate? Our Minion Christmas Cake is all but a distant memory already.
Time for our monthly look back at what was happening on BritMums food blogs during December – There was certainly no shortage of inspiration:
One of the most debated questions regarding Christmas Food, is what to have for starter? Gingey Bites suggested her Home Cured Gravlax.
Eats Amazing shared these super cute Cheesy Puff Pastry Christmas Trees which my kids would love.
I love how vibrant food is at Christmas, these Pistachio, Feta & Pomegranate Crostini from Recipes from a Pantry are no exception.
Nadine from JuggleMum showed off her spectacular table centrepiece in the form of a Turkey & Cranberry Wreath – Looks impressive but is deceptively easy to create.
Let’s not forget the vegetarian Christmas Option with this Festive Butternut Roast from The Veg Space.
Even side dishes got the Christmas treatment, Hijacked by Twins shared her wonderfully pretty and colourful veg dishes with Bejewelled Brussels Sprouts.
I actually forgot to make the Yorkshire Puddings for our Christmas lunch, only remembering as we sat down to eat. Emma from The Mini Mes and Me was more prepared with her Yorkshire Puddings recipe.
Even the newest members of the family were considered this year. A Slice of My Life, Wales provided for Baby’s First Christmas with her meal suggestions.
And so onto the dessert, Emily from Recipes and Reviews ups the stakes with these magnificent Christmas Pudding Macarons – Just too cute!
Of course, you could always go straight for the Yule log like New Young Mum did.
No matter how stuffed we feel after the main Christmas meal, the snacks are out before we know it. Mum In A Nutshell made some delicious sounding Spanish Polvorones (Almond Cookies) which can be enjoyed all year round.
Mostly About Chocolate also got baking with her Easy Spiced Sugar Cookies.
JuggleMum also got creative with her savoury Christmas Snacks.
Christmas wouldn’t be the same for me without cake, but if traditional rich fruit cake isn’t for you, Emma at Farmer’s Wife & Mummy has an alternative – Orange & Ginger Spiced Christmas Cake.
Penne For Your Thoughts also provided an alternative with her Orange, Cranberry & Almond Gluten Free Cake.
Not forgetting the leftovers though – Quite often the part I look forward to the most! Helen from Fuss Free Flavours supplied us with Leftover Turkey & Ham Pies complete with Filo Crunch.
If you were left with mountains of sprouts to use up after the big day, Foodie Quine shared with us her Brussel Sprout & Cranberry Pasta Bake.
Taking leftover veg to a whole new level by incorporating it into cake was Veggie Desserts with this magnificent sounding Winter-Spiced Parsnip Cake with Mulled Wine Drizzle.
Our bloggers didn’t even switch off on Boxing Day, Heidi’s Kitchen Talk served her guests this Boxing Day Brunch including her Chocolate Panettone.
We mustn’t forget our New Year’s Eve menu either, Tinned Tomatoes created these Vegan Beer-Battered Haggis Bites for Hogmanay.
Thank you so much to everyone who submitted and shared recipes to be included in this mega Foodie Festive Roundup. Over the next month, I will be looking for your healthy food posts – Think detox, smoothies, juices and low fat options – We may even see some Winter Salads being featured.
