Expat Round-up: Expat breaks

If I’ve never said so before, I have a restless spirit. I like to be on the move wish is a good trait for an expat I think? Sometimes I feel that being an expat is like living an ongoing holiday. I don’t mean that I don’t take life seriously; obviously I have to because I’m a wife and a mother. What I mean is the thrill of learning something new about my adopted home never goes away. This summer my family and I had a beach holiday; on the Isle of Wight. As a new arrival I was gifted with a copy of the Lonely Planet England. I read about Isle of Wight and marked it off to visit one day. Little did I know it would take 16 years before I’d set foot on her golden sands but oh! It was worth wait. Autumn is here, so let’s take a moment to look back at how we expats spent the warmer months.

 

England

Since my fledgling blogger days I’ve been following Expat Mammy on social media. As in real life sometimes we lose touch with acquaintances in the cyber world, only to rediscover them again. Back in July, Expat Mammy had a caravan holiday at Devon Cliffs. Normally based in Dubai, she and her family had a fabulous old fashioned holiday with beach fun and more.

Over on The Tiger Tales, I share my family’s highlights on IoW beach life. Whether is rock pooling, swimming or simply playing in the sand, I’ve listed a few beaches on the eastern side of the isle for you. 

 

France

Kate on Thin Ice, is another blogger I met in cyber space years ago. Over the years from time to time we’ve shared words of support and comfort, although we’ve never met in person. Kate and her family made France their home early in the summer this year. In July, Kate shared her top reasons for visiting Lac au Duc in Brittany. The lake was created by monks in the 12th century. It also happens to be the largest lake in Brittany.

 

Middle East & North Africa

Leona and some of her favourite family travel bloggers share their favourite child-friendly city breaks. Dubai is on the list. The Dubai Miracle Garden & Butterfly Garden, sounds simply magical. While in Doha, the park life is strong.

 

Bangalore

Jenny continues to explore Bangalore but she goes back to basics in a new blog post. Jenny responds to questions she is frequently asked about her adopted country Bangalore.  In fact, those questions could be applied to any country. At the top of the list is; what do you love about living in Bangalore?
