How a Dom Joly sofa teaches fairness

How a Dom Joly sofa teaches fairness

Loyalty and fairness are two of the best qualities to instil in our children: appreciating loyal friends, playing fairly with friends, being polite and, for parents, teaching our children about these tenets.

NatWest is celebrating these qualities too, by doing away with teaser rates and perks for new customers only and treating all customers the same.

In a stunt with an interactive sofa featuring the voice of Dom Joly (yes, really!), the bank demonstrated the neglect that existing bank customers can feel compared with new customers. As new people arrived it offered them warm welcomes and goodies. “Would you like a cup of tea, Mary?” the sofa/Dom asks one delighted woman. But shortly after it says, “Mary, don’t get too comfy….You’re old news. I’m after new customers.”

Apparently we’re not the only ones ready to say goodbye to unfair deals. Lots of customers think it’s only right that the longer you stay with your bank, the more you ought to be rewarded. See what they have to say:

So, yes, be loyal to your good friends and treat them right. Maybe we’re just good parents, but we think even a child would say that’s a good idea.
