Do you know how she does it? What do you think about upcoming film?

So the trailer for the upcoming film of Allison Pearson's book I Don't Know How She Does It is out – the movie features Sarah Jessica Parker as a suspiciously Carrie Bradshaw-esque Kate Reddy.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to it. Think it will live up to the touchstone quality of the book? Or will it be a disappointing retread?

I just think SJP is a bit brittle for the part. Also, too too perfect. Was Kate Reddy really this slender and toned? I thought she didn't have time to workout...

I didn't hate the book, as it was really well written and had moments I liked, but I totally agree with your reaction to the main character. A good shake was exactly what she needed.

I didn't like the book. You're not alone. I thought it was funny - I did laugh - but like you, I wanted her to just shape up, for heaven's sake. Also, I thought it sent very conflicting messages. The whole of the book seemed to be about how you can't have it all - career, family life, happy marriage - and then at the end, we're meant to think that she does.

I loved the book. One I could really relate to! I think it's always a struggle to live up to a book when producers go for a film. I hate it when it goes all American too!! Can't they just stick to the original? I'm not sure I'll enjoy this as much as the book so probably won't go and see it. If you haven't read the book, you'll probably love this film! :-)

I quite liked the book though it seemed a bit "obvious" - bashing the mince pies etc. Heart sinks that they've made it American. Why!! Also could happily live without ever seeing SJP again. Ever. Never "got" her.
