Dad Bloggers Round-up: Sand castles, pets, reality TV & football

Well it is that time of the month again, yes that’s right the search for dad’s who are happily blogging away out there on the interweb.  When  the round-up baton was passed in my direction last month, I have to admit that there were concerns in my mind as to whether it was possible to locate enough dad’s to keep the round-up going without repeating everyone that Keith had previously mentioned.  Actually I was considering renaming the slot as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Dads, as my search for blogs takes me deep into Peruvian jungles looking for the fabled tribe of dads.

However in reality it has turned out to be slightly easier than that, although I may still wear a Fedora hat when writing  just to feel the part, as there is a rich vein of dad bloggers out there and the numbers are rising.

So what has been going on in the dads world this month?  Well I seem to have spent a lot of time writing about coffee this month over at Dad’s Cooking Tonight having agreed to take part in a competition which I imagined would take one week, followed by a subdued exit.  It’s the semi-finals now and I’m still in, no idea how, but there you go.  I have also been to the cinema and seen the Avengers and in honour of Captain America you will find a dad from across the pond attached to this months list, which may become a regular feature.

As for the others, well I think that Bugbear blog can kick it off this month with his post about football and nationality.  Having a Scottish father his post about where your child is born really made me laugh, although I should point out that the 1974 Scotland World Cup badge is still in my possession somewhere.  Nevertheless the thought of someone driving 450 miles just to make sure his child was born in the appropriate country shows some real national pride, but he explains it much better than me and you can check it out over at Bugbear, along with lots of other fun ramblings.

Actually football seems to be a bit of a theme this month for some reason, and over at the iDad you can see a new method of predicting scores for the Euro 2012.  No repeat of the World Cup octopus here, no this man uses scientific experiments and a ‘psychic’ toddler to workout the results.  Although judging by the first two matches you may want to hold fire on placing your bets, just until he fine tunes the system of course.

Getting away from the football, before you all change channel, we have Stuart who writes, among other things, Hackney Holiday a blog which charts his journey through fatherhood.  This month he has been building castles, of the sand type, and has discovered the joys of reality dad television, which is well worth a read.

A fairly new blog, for me at least, is OneDad3Girls written by Darren a dad with two young daughters.  His blog is a lovely eclectic mix of  life as a parent, recently dealing with problems such as the death of pets, starting primary school and who is going to win this weekend’s Grand Prix, which of course I thoroughly approve of.  There is a lot more stuff on the blog, so pop over and have a read.

Finally for this month one small step for dad kind across the Atlantic to visit Jim Lin’s Busy Dad Blog.  Judging by what goes on on his blog, this guy really is a very busy dad, but more than that it is a great view on how big dad blogging is in the States.  You will find loads of varied content here, ranging from days out and birthdays, but if you like your technology check out what LG Electronics did to his house following the Dad 2.0 Summit, the American dad conference.  Yes you read that right, a dad conference all of their own, something to aspire to I think, but before we get carried away I’ll just point out that they maintain very close links with the mums convention of a similar name, which shows how well the parenting network is connected.
