You’ve likely seen at least one of Comic Relief’s moving appeals from Africa, showing the public the incredible difference their money is making. These broadcasts have a huge role to play in helping to fuel the millions that are donated each year. Annie from Mammasaurus, Penny from A Residence and PS, and Tanya from Mummy Barrow have been asked to accompany a trip to Kenya this month, to document online both what happens to the money that is donated to projects and what happens in behind the scenes filming.

What Team Honk will see in Kenya
We know the projects we are visiting in Kenya are going to be emotionally challenging. The province of Kisumu has suffered a HIV and AIDS epidemic. The projects we will visit include one that supports orphaned street children, of which Kisumu has over 200,000, as well as projects supporting women with HIV and disabled people, who are trying to survive in dire poverty in the slums.
There is a happy flip side of this: We will see incredible change happening as a result of the work and support from Comic Relief.
How does sharing the story help?
Sharing those changes has the power to change the world further. When people truly see the difference they are making in the world, they want to help, they want to donate. Please help us and be part of sharing that change!
With each year we have become more and more emotionally attached to Comic Relief and its work. We become more passionate about the projects it supports. We’ve seen so much change in a short space of time. Many of you reading have too.
Where else can you give in a way that means you don’t have to make a choice between giving on your doorstep (we are all within about 30km of a project funded by Comic Relief) and giving to people on the other side of the world, between mental health and physical health, or between children and the elderly?
We feel really confident this year. We know we can bring home some incredible footage (we even have a Go Pro) but on our own we are not enough.

Watch out for the hashtag. We arrive in Kenya on Saturday 24th January late afternoon, we will be visiting projects Saturday and Sunday and the live broadcasts back to the UK will happen on Monday 26th January. So watch out for them on TV! Please share anything you see and help to amplify the message. We’ll also be recapping our journey on a BritMums G+ hangout on Tuesday 27 January, so watch out for that too.

Team Honk’s founders are a finely tuned triangle. With a background in media teaching, Penny tends to be the one to issue deadlines, ensure plans come together and make videos of our adventures. Annie makes the website sparkle, comes up with a constant stream of creative ideas and concocts cunning social media plans. Tanya is the mother hen, supplying endless encouragement and treats, and works closely with Comic Relief to hatch cracking new plans.
