Charity challenges & appeals for bloggers

We have seen charity hitting our media outlets and timelines in a big way during the Summer.

The blogging community were delighted to hear of the safe arrival of baby Beatrice to our lovely Jennie last month. Matilda Mae remains in hearts and minds. Please check out a video showing just one of the bloggers who took part in a Sky Dive in memory of Tilda. Take a look and please consider a donation to the team in aid of the Lullaby Trust.

Another well-loved member of our community Lucy told us about her brave relation who in his last days was campaigning to Loom to the Moon. This blogger took part in the Loom to the Moon Challenge feeling the love for loom bands and all in a very good cause.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has certainly taken the world by storm.

Please take time out to read this thought-provoking post about the challenge. Water has always fascinated me as it is essential for life but can also in the wrong circumstances destroy life. Read the post and share your view.

Young people often get a bad press so I really enjoyed reading about the passion of a 17 year old who travelled to Malawi to do voluntary work. How inspirational! Share this post with your children particularly any apathetic teens.

As readers of my blog will know, I am a huge fan of charity shopping. I love the whole idea of finding something different and knowing that someone will be better off because you gave in to temptation. I enjoyed seeing the style picked up by one blogger in a London charity shop.

I love how simple ideas that are fun to do can raise money for charity. Here is an example from Maggy over at Red Ted Art. Even if the charity angle does not interest you, this is a fun project for children to make gift boxes.

There are so many ways you can support good causes as this brilliant post from Susan shows.

Don’t know where to start? Here are some charities that are looking for bloggers to help them raise awareness of their services and campaigns.

1. The NSPCC would like bloggers to get involved and to raise awareness of its Big Packed Lunch

2. Jo’s Trust would like bloggers to help them raise awareness of the importance of cervical cancer screening.

3. The RSPCA have information on how dogs and children can be safe together and would welcome coverage of this issue by bloggers.

4. Magic Breakfast help disadvantaged children get a healthy breakfast and are asking you to get involved in their #brekface social media campaign.

5. Many of us have seen the fantastic work of the MacMillan nurses supporting those affected by cancer. Why not find a way to join in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to help support the charity. Might be a very good reason for a blogger meet-up!
