Style Round-Up: Sparkle and investment

Choosing which blogs to include in each month’s round-up is always a challenge and with such a wide variety of fantastic blogs out there, this month is no exception.

Helen over at The Flaky Fashionista has suffered from Psoriasis for 14 years and has come to the realisation that her skin condition is something with which she must learn to live. She shows how it is possible to be stylish even on her flakiest of days and in doing so brings her readers alternatives to the dark winter coats and little black dresses which dominate the winter clothing scene. Jackets with silver sequins, pale winter coats and brands which have a colour palette which work with, and not against her, feature on The Flaky Fashionista. Psoriasis or not, Helen’s blog is a great style blog!

Avenue 57 is written by Fiona Blake, who also owns Avenue57.com – a site where women can share pictures of what they are wearing so as to provide inpsiration to other women. It’s a great place to go if you are short on ideas of what to wear! At Avenue 57, Fiona is passionate about showing women how to look good on a budget. She shops on the High Street and in Supermarkets. Want to know where to go for a Christmas jumper or a new hat, or how about trying some new jeans? Fiona has tried and tested them all!

Rural Mum Style is all about Anna’s quest to stay (be) stylish whilst finding an enduring style that suits her. Anna’s aim is to create a mix of stylish fashion pieces with investment pieces. Writing about her finds whilst reviewing them with a critical eye and an injection of humour, Rural Mum Style is refreshingly down to earth.

My favourite post for a long time is written by Susie at Susie So So and is entitled The Art of Compromise aka a Walk on the Cheaper Side. In her post, she looks at the jackets, t-shirts, coats and boots that she would like to own and provides less expensive alternatives with practical tips on how to pair them with quality accessories to lift them. I love how she walks the line in giving advice on where to spend and where to save and tips on what to look out for when making those all important purchases.

I hope that you have enjoyed this month’s round-up which is intended to include something for everyone. All of this month’s writers are truly inspirational with fantastic suggestions of outfit ideas, practical ideas on how to get the pieces you would like at a price you can afford and how it is possible to overcome style dilemmas rather than throwing in the fashion towel.
