It’s the end of April already – how did THAT happen? We’ve celebrated Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter and before we know it we’ll be packing our suitcases and going on holiday.
But never fear, in amongst the speeding up of time and wondering where you put your passport you can always rely on the 4th Tuesday of the month when we celebrate the Britmums Green Roundup.
Whether you made green New Year resolutions and need some help sticking to them or have just come out of the eco closet, you’ll find lots of hints, tips, merriment and mirth.
A gift that will last
Kicking off this month are the ladies from the Green Mums Blog who are sharing a timeless creative project suitable for any time of year.
They made some beautiful cards to celebrate Mother’s Day, but you could use them for anything.
We all remember the joys of pressing flowers as children and the Green Mums are here to show us what to do with our delicately pressed petals.
Check out their “Pressed Flower Prints: a gift that will last”
Hanky Panky
What with last month’s bin porn and this month’s hanky panky, I’m going to have to check I don’t get myself a reputation.
“Another Goldfish” is trying to start a family and is working out how they can live a low-carbon life in the modern world. Recently she entered into the world of hankies and it wasn’t quite as straight forward as she might have hoped for.
Find out what happens when, in the days of disposable tissues, you try to buy reusable handkerchiefs.
Potato cakes
The other week I saw some rather lovely looking potato farls in the supermarket. I was tempted to buy them but the price and the packaging put me off.
Luckily, Nickie from “I am Typecast” could read my mind and was in the midst of sharing her potato cakes recipe. It’s a fantastic recipe that can be adjusted and played with to use up anything you have lurking in the fridge.
Reduce your waist and your waste
By adopting a ‘use it up!’ approach, Zoe is on a mission to get us eating the right sized portions.
It makes total sense doesn’t it? If you put too much food on the plate, it ends up being pushed around with a fork, dribbled on or chucked on the floor for fun (tell me it’s not just in my house).
By knowing how much to cook, you’ll have shiny plates, happy slim tummies and more money in the bank. Hop over to read “How to reduce your waste”
Roasted Chickpeas recipe
Even though I say so myself, this is a pretty amazing recipe and I created it all on my own. WooHoo!
It makes a delicious snack, is simple to make and costs a few pence. You’ll be left with only the tiniest amount of packaging to dispose of and will be able to enjoy a nibbly snack that’s good for you!
Go and read my “Oven roasted spicy chickpeas recipe” and let me know what you think!
Can’t get enough of the green stuff? There’s plenty more to be enjoyed over at some of theBrit Mum’s greenest groups: Green parents, Allotment bloggers, The Simple Life or the gardening group. And if you missed last month’s nail bitingly exciting green instalment, go and check it out!
Have you written a fantastic eco friendly post recently that will change our lives forever? Add your post to the linky below so we can come and sigh in envy that we didn’t come up with the idea first.
