Boo! I bet you didn’t expect to see me here, now did you? It’s me, Kate, aka WitWitWoo, lending a helping hand with BritMums Good Reads and other assorted BritMum paraphernalia, while Karin sits on the sofa and eats chips and drinks tea – a fine excuse to be pregnant if ever I heard one.
So, grab a Jaffa Cake (or ten,) pause This Morning and put your feet up. You know it makes sense.
Off we go! This is what floated my boat this week:
- Bumholes. Yeah, that blog post title got my attention too. I can’t believe I’ve only recently found out about this blogger, (you were all keeping her to yourselves, weren’t you!?) but Motherventing is my new guilty pleasure. The particular post I’ve chosen, however, is called, ‘Would you Tell off Someone Else’s Child?’ and raises the age old question: “Is it ever OK to tell off someone else’s child? Even if the parent is present?” A special mention has to also go to her post about periods. Any post that has the words ‘fanjita’ and ‘clot’ in it are always guaranteed to make me laugh until a bit of wee escapes.
- Next up is the adorable Emily from Mummy Limited. Anyone that admits to their head being jumbled and just being too tired to think you even make any sense, is my kind of person. In her extremely honest post, ‘The Grind,’ Emily talks about how the daily grind of life bearing down on her “ridiculously knotty shoulders” makes her feel guilty. Guilt is something I know a lot of us can relate to.
- In, ‘Look what happened when we left our kids with the neighbours for the weekend…’ Keith from Chronicles of a Reluctant Housedad admits to something a lot of us suffer from – the feeling of being too much of a parent and not enough of a partner and how he took a sabbatical, corrected that imbalance and brought the romance back … with a dirty weekend away! Liking his style.
- Liz, from Me and my Shadow, brought us the findings from an interesting report commissioned by The Children’s Society, about children’s perception of their own happiness and asks, ‘Are Your Children Deprived?’ Was fascinating to see that there’s an alarming weight placed on material possessions.
- Finding quality time to spend with each of our children is a struggle and I can totally relate to this post, ‘Quality Time,’ from Penny at Alexander Residence about spending individual time with each of her children. Great photos too!
- I’m the least crafty person I know but I’ve always been fascinated by what women get up to at WI meetings. That’s a bit weird, isn’t it? But I bet I’m not the only one. Well wonder no more, as Sarah from Grenglish shares with us ‘how to make Christmas wreaths’ … complete with a photo of her adorable ‘moon face.’
- It’s awful when our children get nightmares, isn’t it? Emily, from My Shitty Twenties, talks about how her son had a nightmare in ‘Wonderful World’ but how after attending the Lighting the Legend Parade at Ordsall Hall, things didn’t seem so bad. I always love the dialogue in her posts between her and her son.
- TheBoyAndMe talks about a subject very close to my heart in, ‘Maternal Love’ … that of the pain at the thought of losing her mother. It’s really nice to read about someone taking the time to appreciate how special their Mum is to them. Beautiful imagery of her Mum pouring imaginary tea with her grandchildren.
- When the über talented Vicki from Honest Mum isn’t directing films (how cool is that?!) she’s raising a very valid point in ‘Over Sharing Anyone?’ I know I’m guilty of talking utter crap from time to time … but maybe there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. Plus, she used the word, ‘Bejeezles,’ and that made my day.
- Last, but by no means least, a short post by Melanie aka FennGirl. In ‘Four Years Ago Today,’ she talks about how it’s been four years since she was diagnosed with breast cancer and how she now relishes even the dull days. A very inspirational woman.
Phew. So, for now at least, I bid you adieu … and as Bruce Forsythe would say, … Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep blogging!
PS. Notice how I didn’t mention the whole ‘Blagging Bloggers’ thing once! Ooops.
