If you want to work with brands you need to know about Klout. Why? Because more and more brands are using their data to measure online influence.
Klout are a social media analytics company that measures online influence using Twitter and Facebook data. They incorporate all sorts of stats, such as follow and following counts, retweets, lists, and influence of retweeters and mentioners. This information is blended with Facebook data such as, comments, likes, and the number of friends in your network, to come up with a “Klout Score”. For the time being, Klout does not include blog stats, but I would not be surprised if that changed soon.
Here’s our British Mum Bloggers Have Klout Index for March 2011. This month we are highlighting our members with the top 50 (ish) scores. Enjoy.

Hurrah! You found your comments! Sorry you feel this way. BMB did not start out as a business, but over the years of running it, it has become one. One of our aims is to help bloggers, especially newbies, and we run programmes to support them. We do our best to support the community where we can, including, among other things, donating as a gold sponsor to Dan's Hadrian's Walk.

No I don't actually like the index and uncomfortable that you got it wrong. You are perpetuating the fascination with stats, which honestly, being at the top I can hand on heart say they don't mean anything. Yes, I'm influently gobby, but.....You are running a business and using bloggers as your revenue...you really need to step back and make sure that you handle them correctly, I really don't think you are. For every pound you make off of them, how much do you give back?????? Plus, do you disclose to them how you use them for revenue? I do think BMB has great potential but honestly think you have lost your vision. Wishing you all the best, Mediocre Mum and ex-member.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. A revised index will be out shortly. The good news is that we are building an API that will grab all these scores automatically (and daily) so that should reduce the chance of any manual errors. Glad you like the index!

Sorry that sounded completely snarky. I should know better than to comment on blogs when I'm grumpy. I was in the midst of fixing a bricked Iphone. Anyhow, it was just that I noticed that the person in first on the 23rd of March in fact had a Klout of 59.08 and not 69. This doesn't just affect me (I'm not that competitive) but the rest of the people. However, I'm fully aware the Klout is not the be all and end all and is better used alonside other metrics but I just think that if it's going to be taken seriously, it really should be right. I'm looking forward to the day that Nicki, surpasses me...it's been a long standing joke between us. Cheers, Chrissie

Last word on it I promise. But if you're going to promote this to PRs you really need to get it right......
