Erica Douglas and Antonia Chitty run together ACE Inspire where you can get online training to help you get your business off the ground. Today they are putting three copies of their book Blogging: The Essential Guide up for grabs.
More and more mums are blogging, going online to share their thoughts and experiences and to link up with other mums. Blogging: The Essential Guide will help anyone who doesn’t know where to start with blogging to get a clear and simple guide as to what to do, and it’s not just for newbies either.
If you are one of the thousands of mums who are blogging already, there is still plenty for you to help you improve your blog. Jane Alexander, author and blogger at Diary of a Desperate Exmoor Woman says, “The book is really great – it’s got everything you need to start blogging and there are some nifty tips for old timers too. It’s clear, concise and beautifully presented. It’s not padding and waffle – it cuts to the chase and tells you just the important stuff. ”
Becky says “I think it says a great deal that even though I’ve been writing a blog for six years, I still learned loads of new things from this book. For a complete beginner it’s a blogging bible, with chapters on creating your blog, ideas for blog posts, loads of hints about community, sensible words about plagiarism and disclosure, etc. But more than this, there are some really clever sections on things like podcasting and eBooks.”
The book is written by Antonia Chitty and Erica Douglas, both mums who have over ten years combined experience with blogging.
Alongside writing their own blog, Antonia and Erica have helped thousands of mums start or improve their blogs with the Mum Blogger eCourse, which is available via Erica’s blog, www.littlemummy.com.

I really could do with this, as I've just started a blog and I'm still learning. As I've just started I haven't got any tips, so I'll tell you why I wanted to start one. The main reason is I've read so many good blogs over the last year, I felt inspired and I wanted to give it a try myself.

If you wish to blog regularly about very different subjects consider having more than one blog. I have one blog where I talk about my family and every day things, especially life with a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and I also have a crafting and cooking blog. Some people who read my regular blog may have little or no interest in my crafting shenanigans, and vice versa, and by having two blogs my readers don't have to wade through blog entries on subjects which may not interest them to find one that does. Having to very different blogs also means that I can play around with different writing styles. For example, my crafting and cooking blog is much more light-hearted than my family blog. Both blogs are still very much from the heart, but they allow me to express myself in different ways.

My best blogging tip is to just be yourself when you blog so your posts sound real and natural rather than forced. Personally, I don't usually plan posts and just tend to let it flow. Although it means my posts are less structured, they do reflect my personality more and I feel more comfortable with them.

Finding out about this book couldn't have come at a better time. Just yesterday I tweeted that I wanted to start my Blog now that my web-designer has set it up for me. My question really is, where should I start? Should my first blog be an introduction; a kind of taster for what's to come? If I'm honest, my original reason for wanting to starting blogging was to increase traffic to my website & to raise awareness about HypnoBirthing. However, I am now keen to explore my creative side & learn, from the experts, how to spread the word of hypnotherapy & HypnoBirthing (especially HypnoBirthing) in an easy-to-read, no actually in a joy-to-read way.
